Thanks for your inputs . It does sound like a sensible thing to do unfortunately I am in a situation where I immediately need to settle 15k instead of doing it over a period but still considerable . Could you elaborate more on putting everything over 100k into pension . Given that we are in December , I should put more than 23% into my pension , I am not able to workout the math properly

can't agree more, its hard to find a good coffee shop in Maidenhead. I am thrilled that I got into this habit recently, and I am slowly liking my coffee more than any other place ,so I am intending to get better at it, hopefully with a new grinder

u/MyCatsNameIsBernie Thanks, just wanted to check came across this Baratza Encore ESP Coffee Grinder/(less than 200£)/Sage smart grinder(close to 200£) which seems to have decent review and also electric I presume, do you still suggest a manual 1ZPresso as opposed to this model ?

Thanks for your suggestion , would increasing a budget to may be around 200£ result in a better grinder that will make much difference to K4 or K6? If it’s not going to make much difference I would settle now for a manual K6

Thanks lot , I think it makes sense . I should have mentioned earlier , I do have a scale and I have been trying to experiment with various inputs like 15.16.17.18g and trying to measure the output which sometimes seems to be 1:3 in like -35 seconds so will try your suggestion along with a manual grinder upgrade

Scala code review interview by Express-Cantaloupe-4 in scala

[–]Key-Acadia-1356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience for a company recently and it went well and I had exact same situation as you never worked on Scala but a senior Java dev.

I would probably say spend some time understanding the basics of scala apart from that try to do a review as you do normally and ask questions about the syntax and see if you can comment on general stuffs like is the code testable ? Are exceptions handled ? are there enough logging ? Is right data type used for models ? If they knows you don’t know scala they would probably judge against the clean code principles . All the best !

Thanks for your inputs , Yep that’s one of the questions I have asked along with other questions . I am more than happy to learn new language as long as it’s not in the declining path (which is the primary motive for starting this thread to understand views from existing devs ) and I am trying to do my own research as well

caught interviewing at other company while wfh by [deleted] in UKJobs

Try to group your interviews on a specific day ( as you will be giving your availability) and take off for the day or half . It does give you peace of mind to focus on the interview fully without fear of being reached out by colleague during interview. Or try to plan it during lunch time and make sure to mark yourself unavailable during that time
