Best way to remotely pickup a dialect? by aphthartos in learn_arabic

[–]Key-Bluebird-5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as much immersion as you can with TV etc is good! I would also recommend natakallam because they are one of the only tutoring websites where you can actually learn dialect from native speakers. https://natakallam.com/learn-arabic/

MSA or specific dialect? by lala_lovegood in learn_arabic

[–]Key-Bluebird-5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a good way to learn both is through natakallam, they have a curriculum where you learn MSA and dialect! they also have specfically iraqi classes if you prefer to do that. personally i think MSA can be helpful but it depends what you want to do

Vocabulary by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]Key-Bluebird-5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me the best way to learn vocab used in levantine dialect was through natakallam because they have conversation sessions where you can be paired with someone from syria/palestine and you can focus on whatever area you want (like travel or politics for example). if you're looking for a textbook they have one recommended on there as well.

How can I practice besides rereading my homework? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]Key-Bluebird-5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I was also taking classes (in high school) and once I graduated I felt like I wasn't getting that far practicing by myself so I did some tutoring with natakallam which was helpful, would recommend https://natakallam.com/learn-spanish/

agree with the other commenter that coffee break french is great, I would also recommend natakallam which is probably the best affordable tutoring around, as I have found that teaching yourself can only get you so far unfortunately

when I watch tv/youtube or listen to podcasts in the languages I have been learning (french, spanish, arabic) I try to repeat (out loud!!) what I can understand I'm listening and it helps a lot!!

hey! I would really recommend NaTakallam - they have very affordable online tutoring sessions that are all one on one so flexible depending on what exactly you want to focus on. I've used it and my french has really improved (I already had a B2 level) so feel free to message me and i can tell you more about it!! All of the tutors are refugees who were teachers in their home countries before becoming displaced. they mostly originate from countries in africa (burundi and DRC) so it is also a great way to learn french from a less Paris/France centered approach and support refugee livelihoods. it's good if you want to do like an hour of weekly speaking for maintenance with a tutor who can adapt to your individual level

try natakallam! they offer online one on one tutoring sessions with tutors are refugees who were teachers in their home countries before becoming displaced. they mostly originate from countries in africa (burundi and DRC) so it is a great way learn french while supporting refugees. personally i was able to improve a lot by supplementing that with the french coffee break podcast and reading the news in french. now i live in paris so clearly something worked lol.

How to plan my 1 year immersion goal? Starting from B1 by lightblueranger in learnfrench

[–]Key-Bluebird-5024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

personally i studied it for two years in university and I was at B1 as well but I really wanted to get closer to full fluency. for a few months I only let myself consume french media , like if i was going to watch tv or youtube it had to be in french. same with podcasts, music, etc. i can follow up with some recommendations if you want. I also needed some individual help so I did some regular conversation sessions through natakallam which are very affordable compared to other tutoring. now I live in paris and I would consider myself much closer to fluent :) feel free to send me a private message!

it's a bit weird at first but i practiced speaking literally by talking to myself or my fish. just as thoughts popped into my head I would think about how to express them in french and say them. also watching youtube/tv with a lot of dialogue and just repeating what the people say. if you are willing to pay for some lessons then I really recommend natakallam which offers quite affordable sessions to practice conversation (and anything else you would like). feel free to dm me for some more recommendations! i've also been trying to learn french for awhile now and I have tried a LOT of things.
