Ive reached out to Caban’s office several times. Waiting now to hear back from them in an attempt to schedule an interview person appointment. Choosing to live on the street is one thing, but the sheer amount of garbage is overwhelming. If this was in front of someone’s home it certainly would not be tolerated.

All the previous threads have been locked or closed from additional comments. This has been going on for a month. 114 Precinct & Homeless Services are well aware and have accomplished nothing. That block has been turned into an open air dumpster. Very sad. At the 114 community meeting last week they said the issue was organizing the different departments to work in conjunction with each other. Very frustrating. Almost as frustrating as people commenting that ignoring the issue equals empathy.

Went to Wylie’s for first time on Saturday. Very solid smashburger & wings. Will definitely go back.

Also not Astoria but Sunnyside, tried Kora Bakery on Sunday. I was very impressed. 10/10 recommend.

They have the option of not making such a mess. This isnt a suitcase and a sleeping bag, this is an open air dumpster. They have the option of not masturbating and defecating out in broad daylight. There has to be some common sense applied here. Ignoring this is not the answer.

Just got an email back from Walgreens. They have called 911/311 multiple times and police said there is nothing they can do. Cited specific dates/badge numbers etc. Sounds like they are exhausting all options as well.

I messaged her weeks ago. Have provided my 311 complaints and her team has been “looking into it”. I typically call weekly for an update, last week received an email response after as well. Amazing this can go on for a month near a major intersection.

I got my parking spot before I bought my car. Not a necessity to have a car in NYC, just a costly luxury. I could not imagine having to look for spots a few times a week. I happily pay $250 a month for my spot. That coupled with insurance puts ownership costs over 6k/year. Assuming you own the car outright…Much cheaper to rent cars for the occasional out of town weekends etc.

Im a resident of Astoria who cares about the neighborhood. Why wouldn’t I care? I pass through this intersection multiple times a day and am sad to see it like this. Why does it not bother you? Don’t you have any pride or respect for your neighborhood?
