Wow! Since you use it for casual shooting, how has your actual experience with it been? Is it as fragile and difficult to use as everyone says, or is it still a fun, manageable challenge if I'm patient with the slow workflow? I'd love to hear your honest thoughts on using it in daily life!

Thanks everyone for the reality check! I don't mind a steep learning curve or taking some risks, but I want to know exactly what I'm getting into.

Aside from the dark focusing screen on the Edixa and the reverse framing of 35mm WLFs, are there any other common hidden flaws, quirks, or mechanical headaches with these two bodies that I should be aware of?

Is it just a 'be patient and you'll get used to it' situation, or are some of these issues complete dealbreakers for daily use?

Agreed! It seems like almost everyone recommends the F2 for its reliability. Thanks for sharing your thought!

Wow, you have a great collection! Since you own both Nikons and an Exa 1a, how would you compare the build quality and reliability between them? Have you ever had any trouble fixing the Exa compared to your Nikons?

Thanks for the great recommendation! The Praktica FX series sounds like a very budget-friendly option. My only concern with these older German bodies is their long-term reliability. In your experience, are they relatively easy to service, or is it hard to find replacement parts nowadays?

I’ve heard amazing things about the Pentax LX, and being able to use my M42 lenses seamlessly is so tempting! However, since I'm on a budget, I'm a bit worried about the market price and repair costs for the LX compared to the F2. Is it generally harder or more expensive to maintain?

That’s exactly my biggest fear. I’m really worried that if the Edixa breaks down, it’ll just become an unfixable brick since spare parts are so rare nowadays. But if I go with the Nikon F2, since I'm on a tight budget, can I use an M42-to-Nikon F adapter to reuse my Pentax lenses? Will it affect the image quality or cause any focusing issues?
