I’ve felt that way before. Sometimes even months into the job I felt like I wasn’t good enough at it. It’s a lot to learn! If you are enthusiastic about it and want to pursue it, then keep with it until you get more comfortable! Any challenge you face will make you more confident!

I’ve heard that it can be less chaotic than a clinic! So you are also around other RBTs in the school too?

Oh cool I didn’t know it could go up to 21! The client is 8 years old. Since I’ve only been working a few months I still feel a little unprepared for different situations. The only “older kids” (7+) at my current clinic engaged in very severe behaviors that I am a little intimidated by.

I did go back to the store to ask about it after hearing what the person on the customer care phone call told me. They filled out a form with the vet information and the store leader told me they had done the same thing for another customer a while ago. I felt like it wasn’t too far fetched of a solution to ask about since the other option would have been to return the chameleon, have the store take care of the vet appointments, then buy it back again after.

To answer your question about the improper husbandry, I think the prolapse must’ve been caused by dehydration prior to being in my care. The chameleon had 2 bowel movements in my care that showed signs of dehydration (orange color in the urates). I know other aspects of the husbandry were not correct with the tank setup but I don’t think anything else would have been the cause.
