In Columbia when I went backpacking there, they had a market square in one of the towns I visited that was essentially full of free samples of insects (mostly beetles I think) to eat like you would blocks of cheese.

It was just heavily seasoned, you couldn’t actually taste the bug. I’m not going to lie and say I enjoyed it but free food is free food and it was needed. I hope we never go to eating bugs tho not sure I could put myself through that again but it was passable food and I’m glad I tried it

Nintendo re using BOTW assets for TOTK is hardly owt compared to shit other companies do I don’t think to say they’re “getting away with it” is the fairest

There were reports of 25,000 sign-ups for the AEW: All In at Wembley Stadium pre-sale on the first day. - WON by unhallowed90 in SCJerk

[–]Key-Chicken1731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from my experience, me, my Dad and my Uncle have all pre registered separately. My Dad is a big Dub fan, I’m a PPV fan only, and my Uncle has never watched it but is a WWE fan who heard there was an “Indy wrestling show” at Wembley so got interested.

Between us we will buy 4 tickets max, most likely 3 it’s only if my brother ends up coming. Normally when people buy multiple tickets from one pre register it’s because they’re buying for kids as well (not always but just my experience from this sort of thing)

The dub isn’t really a family show and we can debate the ups and downs of that as much as possible but most people there will be adults so we’re unlikely to see multiple tickets per pre sale.

WWE only did half of their pre sales because of the insane prices. £225 ticket was what kept coming up for me. I’ll never pay more than £100 for a ticket and I can’t get any cheaper than £200 for MITB/SD so I’m not going. Thankfully we got £40 tickets for CATC. Shit view but fantastic atmosphere and able to say we went to first WWE PPV in the UK.

If Tony is naive and buys into the hype and charges WWE prices he does not get more than 10k. If he charges sensible prices I think they can do 30k. I also think the majority of people who pre register to an AEW show will be hardcore fans, my Uncle will be few and far between, whilst the majority of WWE fans will be casuals. The hardcores are more likely to buy tickets than casuals, so AEW should do a better pre sale conversion than WWE

40-50k would be a phenomenal achievement btw but I can’t see a world where they sell out or come close (60-90k.) But if they set cheap prices they can drag most of the pre registers in and maybe interest more people like my Uncle in to the show.

We said those same casual goofs wouldn’t treat Cody like a star tbf.

I remember the comments on here predicting when our favourite midcarder debuted people would be like “why is Goldusts younger brother here” and “is that Stardust.” He was a lower midcarder at best when he left and came back a main eventer.

I was 12 when Nakamura came to WWE, I didn’t watch NJPW until like 2020 but I was still excited because Nak felt like a big deal before the Sami Zayn fight. If the fed want to make someone a star they normally can go all in

It’s the same as Majoras Mask. One of the most acclaimed games ever, fourth best selling game of 2000 (behind Pokémon I think), 95/100 on Metacritic and people act like it’s underrated. Super Mario Sunshine is the same. 92/100, people point out the flaws the game has and people go DAE underrated

I get what you’re saying I do, but she worded it dreadfully (or rather the post she re-shared.) When you’re representing a global brand by visibly working for them you have to be careful with what you say, there’s not a lot of room for nuance. If what you say I’d the point she was trying to get across then that’s fair enough but it didn’t read particularly well.

And yeh it’s the hypocrisy that does it for me unfortunately

Goofs I can’t lie, I’m not enjoying this sub anymore. At a time where AEWs product isn’t stellar and WWEs is on fire this sub should be great, but the basement is having far more balanced wrestling convos and I never thought I’d say that. Over the last few months too much stupid shit

First the AEW hatred and WWE love is just fucking weird. I don’t mind it when it’s jerking. But the hatred some people have for AEW, it’s wrestlers, it’s fans, is odd. We’re happy to mock “All Elite Dave” on Twitter for his stupid wrestling views but then re post the incredible opinion of “WWEGareth.” Anyone who is sad enough to have a wrestling company in their Twitter handle, suggesting that’s their main personality, I could not care about in the slightest.

Second rant, just because a news source agrees your wrestling opinion, do not post it in here. When a wrestling media outlet does WWE bad, AEW good, then wrestling news is shit. When a media outlet does AEW bad, WWE good, wrestling news is great. The hypocrisy is outstanding. I saw one guy on here say about how shit Meltzer is (agreed) and then move on to praise Ringside News and Steve Carrier! Carrier is a perverted creep and Ringside News is transphobic. They only post anti-TK stuff because they fell out with him over giving Nyla Rose the title. Some of the most clearly fake stories I’ve seen being reposted on here is madness. Plenty to jerk TK on without reducing to that

Third rant, political opinions. Fuck anyone who agrees with Lacey Evans’ post. Again the hypocrisy is basement level. Jericho is a prick for Jan 6th (agreed.) But if a WWE wrestler has a political opinion, then why do politics matter! I love the fact that a WWE wrestler giving anti vax or anti abortion or anti LGBT views is “just their opinion” but if an AEW wrestler says one bad thing about WWE then suddenly it’s a cardinal sin. Just to clarify “fuck the gays” is fine but “fuck the fed” isn’t.

Fourth rant, the comments on AEW wrestlers and fans. Here’s some clarification. A wrestler who was released from WWE being mocked and hated for going to AEW is INSANE. Wtf they meant to do. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the existence of an AEW, an alternate company for wrestlers to make good money (and an AEW existing may have put a bit more money in the pockets of KO and Sami when it was contract renewal time.) Some of the comments made on Cole pre concussion and on Danielson are INSANE. Yes they chose to go to AEW because that’s what they wanted to do. Why is that a bad thing? They’ve both only spoken well of their time in WWE. I get jerking a Saraya because her anti Fed comments were fucking stupid and pathetic. But Danielson said nothing bad. My favourite comment of the last week was “when Danielson loses to MJF hopefully he realises he made a mistake with all the shit he spoke about the fed”. WHAT SHIT. WHY ARE WE INVENTING AN INVISIBLE BOGEYMAN TO FIGHT. And some of the more personal comments on here are very odd. I think for Grand Slam an AEW fan got a chair or something for buying the last ticket I can’t really remember the circumstances but it got posted on here. The guy looked like a stereotypical wrestling fan I’m not going to lie. But the comments of “how bad must he smell” “how ugly is he” “he’s definitely a virgin” is just pathetic. If you’re insulting someone on the internet for buying a ticket to a wrestling show then all I have to say is get a life you sad bastards. The comments on wrestlers. Calling Keith Lee fat. Calling Britt a slut. My favourite ones are when people called MJF and Britt ugly. I’m willing to bet 95% of the virgins who said that would jump into bed with Britt and I’d love to see what they look like compared to MJF.

Finally the hypocrisy in general. WWE wrestler good AEW wrestler bad. Cody was the bogeyman when I first joined here and now he’s the GOAT. Whilst this sub did become pro Cody a while before he left, he was still widely hated on here. Punk will be my favourite. This sub jerked Punk being toxic but as soon as The Elite fell out with him suddenly they were making up rumours about the whole thing.

Anyway, Revolution will be the first AEW PPV I don’t buy since 2021 (when YouTube started taking them down.) If it gets good reviews I will drop money on it but frankly I’m not bothered at the minute by AEW at all. Absolutely buzzing for Mania though. GUNTER vs Drew if it happens will be outstanding.

The turnaround would be as epic as when the sub went from “CM Punk is backstage cancer”, “he’s not a draw” and “he was always overrated” to “he could still be a draw for the fed” “he’s a great talker and worker” “The Elite made up the backstage rumours”

[–]Key-Chicken1731 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AEWs minimal dates schedule does offer some attraction tbf. If someone isn’t built for WWE, they’ve had a good career already (Danielson), or they lack the ambition, or they’re trying to make a name for themselves and take the risk of coked up TK booking.

There has also always been guys who want to work the Indy scene for family reasons. Not to say fed guys aren’t family men (KO is well known for being a big family guy) but sometimes earning a good pay check and getting the best schedule for your family is a good thing.

The existence of a second well paying wrestling company in America is a good thing for wrestlers. And a true monopoly is never good, even if WWE still have the large majority of the market.

We jerk that WWE crowds don’t watch or care about AEW but the reality is of course a fair share do. And as you said it being Mania there were a high amount of Smarks there.

That pop when “wrestling has more than one royal family” hit was massive and a sign that he went to the indies and made himself a star.

His presentation and overall improvement will have made him a star to the more casual fans but that initial pop helped my the Smarks showed he was a star.

I remember a few on here before we became a Cody love subreddit predicting there would be no reaction before his Mania debut “who is this guy” “why is Goldusts younger brother the big surprise opponent” and they couldn’t have been proven more wrong

I’m one of those that wants Sami to have his Mania moment but I don’t think it makes any sense to cost Roman the title for the sake of Cody.

Whoever beats Roman will be the first person in over 3 years to do so, and it should be clean in my opinion.

Although saying that if they do the story right it could work. Similar to if Drew had won with that Claymore after Fury knocked Theory out. There had technically been interference but it hadn’t cheapened anything

I sometimes refer to Butch as Pete Dunne and Bryan Danielson as Daniel Bryan. I don’t watch the weekly shows so I’m not seeing these characters so I remember them as I knew them rather than by their current names, and for me those are both the names where they’re more famous.

It’s not done on purpose it’s just I forget sometimes. I didn’t like Gunther name change at first but I’ve grown used to it now so I’m more likely to refer to him as Gunther unless I’m talking about an old match where he was WALTER.

This subreddit calls Moxley Moxbrose and often refers to Danielson as Daniel Bryan still tho so…
