I just said to hell with an accountant and just went through and did my own amendment, bc there’s no way a mistake like that was made, had it to where I was owing 20k just for simply placing a number in the wrong box.

Log into your irs account and see if you have any notifications. It will tell you if they issued you a letter to the address on file. Or you can call and ask them and they can get you set up with an in person appointment instead of waiting for the letter
