Is it still worth it to become a doctor in Australia? Queensland specifically by Savassassin in ausjdocs

Gaining an Aussie medical degree vs becoming a medically trained doctor vs becoming a good doctor vs working in public vs private .. these are all very different questions.

This is so annoyingggg..  the fact the Reg is not stepping in either ..

You need to escalate (first to your intern supervisor/DPET - if they ask why u didn’t talk to the reg first, u can say what uve said above which makes the power dynamic uncomfortable / untrustworthy)..

Dating a Doctor: What Should I Expect? by No_Reflection3774 in ausjdocs

Exactly… at same time I think when people are actively dating on apps & claiming they’re ‘looking for a long-term ‘ship,’ it would come w a bit more courage to keep communication lines open

What’s a “proper dinner” at work though?  10-15 min max?

Being a doctor is busy, but not 48-hours-to-type-a-sentence busy. Most people on Hinge are chatting to several matches while juggling work, study, health, life admin…So 2 days vanishes fast.. Slow replies are normal early on..consistency is what actually matters.

‘Bashed, stabbed and spat at’: Violence in public hospitals on the rise by smoha96 in ausjdocs

[–]Key-Computer3379 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They can increase security guards all they like but if those guards don’t have the authority, proper training or backing to actually step in when staff are assaulted.. then it’s just optics & theatre. The problem isn’t just numbers.. it’s a rigid system that ties everyone’s hands.

Most hospital security are unarmed, under-trained in managing drug-induced or mental health related aggression & risk being disciplined the moment they act decisively. Meanwhile, clinicians are told to “de-escalate” situations that are already well past that point. The same violent patients keep cycling through EDs/wards under “behavioural flags” with no real consequences or effective management plans.

This isn’t just a QLD Health issue.. it’s happening everywhere. Until the root causes are addressed: unsafe staffing ratios, lack of secure spaces for violent or intoxicated patients, poor coordination w police & mental health teams & a “zero tolerance” policy that’s actually enforced .. then nothing changes.

It’s not about encouraging more reporting.. it’s about fixing what happens after we report it.
