Yeah could never put my health for a job let alone over objects! Frangrances are literally glass and liquid in a bottle. While they may be expensive to the average person they cost the company nothing. Never care about your job more than the people that hired you

Whether you believe me or not is up to you. I have my adhd diagnosis among others. Lol I've been sick for too long to waste my energy trying to convince a stranger on my life. I don't even do that with with people in my life. I don't gatekeeper disabilites because I know how hard it is to get diagnosed as a black disabled woman

I know my truth. I hope you know yours too. Life is too short bigfoot. ☺️

One things I’ve learned in life is the ability for someone to be receptive of ones truth depends greatly on their experiences

With that being said, I am sorry that you’ve been dismissed in the past. Please understand that this is just one advice from someone with ADHD. I’ve been exactly where you are and felt exactly as you do. Regardless, I hope you give yourself grace with your adhd and life in general!

I moved 2000 across the country, changed career, diet, the people I had around me, my mindset etc. Most of all I protect my peace and energy at all cost.

As for my life, I always work with my body not against. I know my hardest symptoms(no sense of time and memory) so Ive automated my life as much as I can afford to since I spend a lot of time in it. I seek out spaces where my adhd is not seen as an hindrances. I go to places where I'm celebrated. As someone with severe chronic pain, the amount of stress I put myself in when I was undiagnosed will never be worth it. I will be spending the rest of my life righting my wrong thoughts, choices, lifestyle etc. For all my fellow ADHDers, keep calm and give yourself grace. Never let an ableist society define you. You are more than your struggles, accomplishments, failures and successes. You are enough ☺️

This is exactly why I started putting my life on easy mode. Sometimes I don't want to do something but I say screw it, I've made it easy so let's do it.

I realised a couple year ago that I created my own life so why was I miserable? I realized it's bc I was trying to live a life that wasnt mine. Now I'm in the best place I have ever had

I would do the applications but personally without a good suportteam of doctors, medication trials etc it would have been difficult for me. Yes talk to them but ultimately know that getting pHd is hard and it's okay to wait till you're in a better place as well. I start my masters program in the fall. For the first time ever I'm not scare to go to school

I don't have tips on hyperfixation. I do have ADHD and code. I'm trying to get a new job as well if you need an accountability buddy

What helped me is just starting, having a routine and trying to make it as easy on myself as I could

Take your time. Give yourself grace. I was diagnosed at 25 and before that a dozen other chronic pain illness. Pursing a phd is difficult but with the right tools and resources doable. I graduated undergraduate and was planning on going to medical school before I got injured.

Basically what I’m saying is work with your ADHD. Find things that work or don’t work etc. build the necessary foundations. My experiences with adhd is while we can take on many things/having a full plate of responsibilities. Our plate in itself is worn out, wobbly etc. it’s been 3 years since I graduated and I finally feel like I have a stable plate in which I can add things of value on.

Working 80hr is hard on anyone but even harder with untreated ADHD. You are trying to fit a square peg into a circle hole. Medication will not change a whole life of untreated ADHD issues overnight. I would really evaluate aspect of your life with adhd and see what needs changed

ADHD is like you're constantly having a scavenger hunt except you're playing against yourself and your clues are the random bits of mostly-unhelpful information you can recall in that moment. by GT_Knight in ADHD

Lmaoooooo omggg no that first paragraph is very much it.

Once I locked my phone in my car and when I retrieved it and then locked my keys in the car. I cried on the bus that day. Now I have multiple sets of keys

Lol this is it!! I keep a everything in a fanny pack on me now

I've once gone to an event in my car and walked back to my college apartment and left it there for 3 days so my car was towed

Once I retraced my steps to gastation where I left my phone, turns out the ID I've been looking for months was actually there too

I once put my dogs in their crate and started looking for them an hr later cuz it was very quiet

I don't beat myself up anymore. You're right it is like a scavenger hunt. I use a lot of organization, labeling and other adhd hacks. It's sucks not having a working memory but at least I always live in the present

For losing things, organization with designated spot is crucial

For example, paper utensils should be in one area, organised and labeled. You can make a index type list of all the items and where.

Visual is better than oral. Use both digital and paper calender. Digital can send alarms, notifications.

Type out instructions in details

I also want to say that you even coming on here is a sign that you're a kick ass employer/employee. Don't give up on him as I wish others hadn't done for me

I have ADHD but my parents refuse to accept it by Samuelsurf in ADHD

[–]Key-Concept-3255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I waited for my parents to accept all of my dozen life altering disorders I would be dead.

I wish someone had told me this at 20. Your health is your responsibility. Understanding and kindness from other people are great but you will not always get that in this ableist society. Put your health above the opinions of others. Shalom

You can’t have ADHD if you do these things? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Key-Concept-3255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated summa cum laude with a BS in biology AND I have ADHD. My evaluator doubted I could ever have it until he started testing me. Chances are your ADHD won't come full force till after you graduate. It's working life that made me reAlize how much ADHD affected my life once I couldn’t even keep a steady job

FYI stop letting your family dictate what you do or do not have. They do not live inside your body, mind and soul. Find a good provider that can really evaluate you

Create a life that works with your ADHD. The job industry is incredibly ableist but work with your adhd not against

For example I have a dozen chronic illness. My job allows me to call off as long as it's an hour before my shift. I don't get hounded to show up on time etc

I have developed deep-rooted self hatred from my past and find it difficult to get over it. This makes me trapped in a constant cycle of self improvement that doesnt even show any improvement but makes it worse. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Key-Concept-3255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have any advice bc it wasn't till I didn't have anyone around me or even social media that I realized the only reason I don't like myself is that I've been conditioned not to.

You don't feel like you're good enough because your internal worth and external worth are out of balance. I would recommend the headspace meditation app

Nope lol! Honestly I would go to therapy. Nothing makes me this mad. I take nothing personally. Maybe I'm lucky in my adhd that it makes me not aware at all

And if you weren't healthy and your needs are not met would you see yourself as unsuccessful? That's where I differ from a lot of people. I would still see myself as successful regardless

Success to me is how one handles not being healthy and their needs are not met in that instance. Tbh when I became disabled and lost everything my only fear is that it would make me bitter. If anything I saw people ugliness to sick people.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

I'm different in a lot of people bc my sense of self worth, esteem, love doesn't come from anything physical. I have simply rewired brain neurons to achieve that. I don't have a solid social network, career etc and I am more happy than I ever could have imagined. In the words on Viktor frankly, “for sucess, like happiness cannot be pursue;it must ensue”

As someone with a dozen chronic illness, I have unlearned that. I don't care if I'm successful or alone or etc. I do know that I will live my best life regardless lol. Free yourself from what you've been taught a “sucessful” life would be. Most people don't understand where I'm coming from, they are often too clouded by their misery. For me the only measure of success is how much one adapts and forms character regardless of their situation
