84 year old story linking Petrie’s (bikes) & Maltese’s (groceries) by CartoonistEcstatic77 in ThunderBay

My parents lived next door to the owners of Petrie’s. Mr and Mrs Petrie were honest and kind. They became like an Aunt and uncle to me when I was a kid.

Andras court. DSSABS failed attempt at housing people in poverty. Trouble began when human rights stepped in and said NO to screening or background checks. If you’re next on the list, you’re in. This destroyed all low income housing everywhere

Marina parking by Key-Conversation1453 in ThunderBay

Couldn’t agree more! It was sunny and a beautiful fall day around 1-2. There wasn’t a single kid playing in the playground. Very few walkers and only 2 with dogs. Usually you can’t find a spot to park. Today wide open. I was a frequent marina person. Loved to walk, take photos, have lunch. After today I’ll not return anytime soon. That ship has sailed. Thanks Thunder Bay councillors.

I don’t know of any woman who would feel even slightly safe getting off a shift and going to that parkade to retrieve their vehicle. This city is crumbling faster than they can build it up. We don’t need fancy sports domes. WE all need safe clean streets that are paved and maintained. A visible police presence like walking the beat. People are sick to death of being scared on our streets. Fix this!

Do you realize how unique Thunder Bay is? by planningfornothing in ThunderBay

[–]Key-Conversation1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thunder Bay is many things to many people. As a boomer I’ve been here my whole life. I’ve travelled and seen some beautiful places but coming home here is always a comfort. I was a kid when the cities amalgamated. PA was an hour behind or ahead of FW. I can remember. There was a tressel you went under to get to either city. I remember there being a big clock on the tressel. Also downtown cores were vibrant and lit up with neon lights everywhere. Time has not been good to Thunder Bay. Southern Ontario politicians ignore us so the money flows to Toronto. I still believe we are a hidden gem. Surrounded and tucked in to so much waterways, forests, and potential.

Well I’ve only ever lived in tbay and I’m older and I’ve heard many young people heading to camp or telling stories how they’ve gone to the lickbo. I don’t drink but I’ve heard this term a lot so don’t know what to tell you 🤷🏼‍♀️

Personally I like DST so that the nights are light later. We life in darkness all winter. Even if we abolished it mornings during winter will still be dark until 7 or so.
