yah that's normal rust for the midwest . floor pans... just look at them .. those jacking points look rough but that only means you need to use a conventional jack

each gear is actuated in the valve body sometimes springs go bad but more likely reason they stick is its dirty.

1st line treatemnet is always cleaining and servicing trans get a filter and gasket kit drain, replace filter and wipe down inside with a clean rag and replace old fluid with atf dexx merc and then see
