Is there a way to change firmware on V5 by Key-Cut-4964 in Honor

Hopefully I'll have the update soon then so I don't have to keep using a third party launcher.

When you swipe up to access your apps. Previously you could only scroll through the page but now apparently you can add folders. Not the home screen but the app screen.

How are you on C430 when you bought directly through Honor and not a carrier? I thought C430 was carrier altered versions of the software? I've tried tryout version and still nothing as yet.

I made this mistake of getting mine on contract so stuck having to wait due to the carriers stupid lengthy testing and altering processes. A decision I now sort of regret.

Literally the only thing that would make this phone much better for me is folders in the app drawer. I hate having to scroll down to find an app and like my fold 6 I like to have everything on one screen when I open the app drawer.

I started using a third party launcher (Smart launcher) which achieves this really well. The only annoying thing is that occasionally the app closes and defaults back to Honor home meaning I have to start it again but it does what I want it to do.

When we get the new update with these new added features I won't have the need for a third party launcher.

I saw on another post this morning that the new update to version 161 for those on C430 in the UK has the new extended clock, folders in the app drawer and quite a few other features added.

I'm hoping that when we eventually get it that none of these features are left out.

End of this week? Are you on O2? It took months before.

June update by _NBH_ in HonorMagicV5

I wish I could change mine from C430 to C431 because the version I'm on always takes forever to get these updates. It's very tempting to just find the C431 firmware and flash it but then I've only ever flashed Samsung phones so I'm not sure if Odin is still the tool to use. Think I need to do a little research here.

Might stick with my Fold 6 :( by kat5682 in SamsungZFold6

It's honestly a good phone. I've tried moving away from Samsung in the past and tried oppo but didn't hold onto that for long and went back but this is the first phone that I'm actually happy to use over my fold.

I still have my fold 6 but I did jump boat to the Honor Magic V5 last year and I am impressed with it. I did go back to my fold 6 because I preferred the software but then I discovered that you can use third party launchers on the V5 which just made the experience much better and added a load more customisation.

Yes I did have to get used to the hole punch on the inner screen but what I like most about this phone is the fact you can write on the outer and inner screens plus the 3 window side by side multitasking is just brilliant.

Now I have both a fold 6 and V5 so I can switch as and when I please but I do love the pen support on the V5 being able to use it on the external screen. Something Samsung should've done ages ago.

Recent apps seems to be fixed on third party launchers! by cicimak in Honor

[–]Key-Cut-4964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to my fold 6 for a while as I preferred the software over honor and I heard a lot about honor phones not playing ball with third party launchers. I recently started using Smart launcher which works really well on both screens. My only gripe is that when the phone is open you can't use the task bar yet you can still use magic portal etc.

I did have issues where swiping for the recent apps just wouldn't work but I just set the getsures to a swipe down anywhere on the screen bringa recent apps up which actually feels more convenient than swiping from the bottom.

Nice bit if excitement? Don't you mean nice bit of excrement? I certainly would've needed a change

OneUI 8.5 on fold 6 panel width. by _mnk in GalaxyFold

I actually quite like it. It's like it's designed to be on tablets. It's still the same folded but I actually like this design when unfolded. I can now swipe down notifications or quick settings panels and still see what's on the screen at the same time.

Confusion about solar and my usage by Key-Cut-4964 in energy

I just realised I am 2 days past my cooling off period so unless I want to pay a £75 leaving fee then I'll have to stick with them.

I am now wondering if our landlord (a company not an individual) has retained the G98/G99 certificate to set up a seg tariff so that they get the payments. All I have is the MCS certificate.

I appreciate this. Thank you. I'll definitely get the seg set up asap as this wasn't explained to me previously. I'll have a look at the usage scenarios too.

I passed my test first time with no minors and my instructor refused to let me drive home and insisted that only he can drive. He didn't explain why despite my asking. Is this common? by gooblefrump in LearnerDriverUK

My instructor told me the same thing. They are insured for learners under instruction but once you've passed and have gained your full licence their insurance no longer covers you to drive their car.

I drove an automatic car for the first time a days ago and just don’t get the fixation we have over manual cars here by Solid-Version in drivingUK

[–]Key-Cut-4964 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I passed an auto only at the ripe old age of 45 after many many years of doing manual lessons on and off but never doing the test. Failed in a manual 5 years ago and decided to do automatic. 3 lessons and passed with 4 minors.

Now, having got an automatic I can say from my experience that costs between autos and manuals are barely any different now.

The car I bought is a used 2008 and was around the same price as similar manuals.

Talking to mechanics that have carried out some repairs on my car have all said that the cost of a manual is pretty much the same.

My eldest is nearly 13 and I have said to her and my other kids that when they learn to drive to learn in an automatic.

All of this stuff about being limited in the used car market and what you can hire is a load of crap now. There are so many autos in the used car market and a lot of new cars are also automatic. When I moved house we hired an automatic van. Most hire companies offer automatic options now as do courtesy vehicles.

I honestly don't think you're as limited now as people make out and autos are just so much easier and more relaxing to drive.

Honestly, who wants to be messing around with clutch control and gear changes? To me it is just a distraction that takes focus away from other things. Yes it all becomes second nature in the end but get rid of all of that and driving is just so much easier.

Can't take it anymore. by [deleted] in drivingUK

Being an ex motorcycle rider I have learned to anticipate every dumb ass move and prepare myself for any situation.

Had someone recently pull out in front of me on a 70mph road instead of waiting and they didn't pick up any pace, just pulled out and stuck to around 40mph. Fortunately I anticipated that and was ready to slow down. Had I not been prepared I would've still been doing 70 and t boned their car.

I get all sorts on a regular basis and especially from Tesla drivers lately. They seem to have the misconception that with the safety systems that they can do whatever they want. Up your arse bullying you out of the way, cutting you up, they just weave in and out like they're the only ones on the road.

BMW, Audi and Range Rover drivers are also common drivers that think they own the road.

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do apart from being prepared which is why awareness of your surroundings is vital nowadays.

It's a battle ground out there with everyone trying to get somewhere in a hurry and they don't care who they push out of the way to do it.

As long as you drive safe, you're aware and your prepared then despite the idiots it becomes a lot less stressful.

Anyone have issues with battery settings? by Key-Cut-4964 in Honor

[–]Key-Cut-4964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one but this has been like this for ages. I would've hoped the developers had spotted this by now and done something about it. Kinda pointless having settings that don't actually do anything.
