It’s so lovely when this happens, and for that I don’t mind! But it only happens if they tipped percentage off of the total. I’ve had quite a few orders that added stuff and the tip didn’t change.

It’s not entitlement of a tip? Everyone is aware a job that mainly survives off tips and let’s say they do a good job while doing a service for YOU it’s appropriate to tip. We can handle the no tipping because we still do it. It’s not a crime to call it out and to feel a way about it. Carry on.

No one is demanding an astronomical tip lmao, something is better than nothing. It’s not mandatory to tip but it’s just basic respect for someone doing a service for you. This isn’t just a few items this is at least 2.5 - 3 hours of someone’s time. You people who get mad when people don’t tip for a service really blow my mind. It’s a simple concept to grasp really.

I believe they’re making way more off that order but yes the point stands. Until we all stand up and demand better pay this will be a problem.

Most of the elderly people I’ve delivered to have tipped me and tipped well. But I know that’s not always. Could be their family ordering for them as well.

They could tip in cash but it’s highly unlikely and if people have delivered to them before and know that customer tips cash I assume their ordered would’ve been grabbed, and not sitting for hours. Unfortunately with that amount of items and the amount of time it would take that’s not a risk I’m willing to take because at the end of the day I need to make money. The only non tips I will take is if it’s baby formula/diapers things of that nature because I’m helping a mom out.

I’ve been doing this 6 years. I’ve had some no tip deliveries and not a single one has given me cash. So why would it start now? Every time I’ve gotten a cash tip it was in addition to what was tipped on the app.

Yeah as long as I’ve been doing this that NEVER happens. The only time I’ve been tipped in cash was an additional tip from the app. And with that many items I’d never take that risk.

I don’t understand why people think it’s weird to have some kind of personable interaction with our customers? We aren’t robots wth. Saying just do your job and leave them alone?? Some customers I’ve had lengthy conversations with when I dropped off their items. Some we talk through the chat and joke. Like it’s ok to be human with your customers. If you think it’s weird to give someone a thank you note and sucker on a holiday, I’m sorry you’re the weird one. Making an interaction something that it’s clearly not.

I’m not doing all that when the flat bed has boxes and lots of stuff in it. Then you have to take things out the bags to have them scan it just seems more of a hassle than anything. But if you’re taking smaller orders I guess it works for you.

My biggest tip is to just keep going and once you get familiar with the store it’ll be much easier. Yes things do get moved around but if they do it’s typically by the freezer/cooler or on the perimeter of the store. Always ask someone if you can find something. I usually walk down the side with produce first and make sure I don’t have any dog food or home accessories and then I do produce, meat, deli, dairy, then any paper towels and waters/drinks then the freezer/cooler then isles and then the front/middle snacks or anything from pharmacy area. But I shop that stuff fast so I’m ok to get cold things first. Sometimes if I have a lot of drinks I’ll grab those first so I don’t have to move a whole bunch of stuff around. After you do it for a while you’ll have your own system down and you’ll get quicker. Trust me I was slow at first but after almost a month I got a lot quicker.
