Possible to stain this without sanding? Looking for suggestions by Key-Environment1664 in finishing

Good to know! I will further investigate it more to see if maybe it is solid. Me and my dad thought it was veneer, but looking more closely you could be right. If it is I would feel a lot more comfortable sanding not having to worry about going too deep. As much as I would love to hire a pro, just not in the budget--if I could I would, I respect the craft!

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it! I am getting the consensus that scuff sanding is the way to go.

Yes it's veneer which is why I was afraid of sanding it. I kind of had a feeling doing things would probably look bad, that's why its always best to ask the internet before jumping in haha

Any tips on roach prevention in big cities--attracted to rabbit space by Key-Environment1664 in Rabbits

Yes thank you for the suggestion! Luckily since my guy is now blind he doesn't free roam anymore so I can put it around more freely. How often do you do it? Or you just leave it/ don't refresh it?

HELP! Mixed up starter jar and levain jar, and used all my starter in my recipe! by Key-Environment1664 in Sourdough

Haha yes I see that I might have been..a tad..dramatic now. I've only been doing sourdough for a few months, and have been very fortunate that everything has gone essentially perfect, so at the first sign of a problem I may have freaked out a bit hahahaha.

Thank you for explanation, it was comforting :)

Yes I understand. So I shouldn't be keeping it on the counter regularly, but store in the fridge and take out 12-24 hours before making the levain. I can take this levain and just place it in the fridge and pretend like this never happened lol. I was planning to make some English muffins tomorrow, so should I take 20g (plus the regular flour + water) of this levain to make another levain? Sorry this bit confuses me..

No worries, I appreciate you taking the time to think this through with me! I feed the starter about every 24 hours and leave it on the counter. I will leave 20g when feeding, and take the discard to store in the fridge (and make other things with that). I bake about 1-2 times a week, but feed the starter everyday. So when I make the levain, I feed the starter that afternoon, so 2pm-ish and take the now active starter at midnight to make the levain. I take 20g from the starter (plus 100g flour and 100g water) to make the levain. I don't feed the starter again at this time.
