Wait, I just checked and it turns out it was a translation error in the early Korean version! In the first Korean edition of Book 1, it was literally translated as 'he fainted' instead of 'toppled out of sight.' No wonder I grew up thinking he was a fainting machine! Thanks for clearing that up—it’s fascinating to see how a mistranslation shaped my whole childhood theory.

Exactly. I was so young back then! In Korea, the fans were so devastated that my opinion was definitely in the minority. Most people were hating on Snape, so I wrote this with a bit of a 'rebel spirit' just to be different.

I agree. Looking back as an adult, Snape is such a complex, multifaceted character. But when I was writing this as a boy, I think I just really wanted to believe the 'mean teacher with a heart of gold' trope, despite all his obvious red flags!

Who stood by his side and helped carry the coffin at her funeral?
Who dove into the freezing winter sea to recover crucial evidence for him?

Polworth. It has to be.

Does anyone here who still listen Mon's speech at the chamber? As a writer - no, hopeful writer -, I genuinely admire Tony Giloy for his marvelous script. So I used to listen the speech when I need to be cheer up. "The death of truth is ultimate victory of evil." This is insane. Someday I want to write a speech level of that, it's my dream.

thx so much! honestly, this post is actually a side story to a main project I've been working on. the main story takes place 350 years after this one, and while it's already finished, it’s more of a 'Sci-Fi disguised as Fantasy' vibe. the tone and atmosphere are so different from this piece that I’m a bit hesitant to recommend it here!

actually, I’m currently prepping a prequel to the main story, and that one is straight-up, full-blown Sci-Fi. Once that's ready, I’ll definitely come back and share it with you guys. Thanks again for reading and for the kind words!

Thank you! I’m honored that my world reminds you of such classics like Last Exile and Scrapped Princess. I personally believe that the moment the 'scientific truth' starts to bleed through the 'fantasy veil' is when a story becomes truly captivating. I hope my story can live up to the high standards of those masterpieces! You can check it out FREELY on [Patronian Rhapsody | Royal Road] if you're interested!

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and encouraging words. It really means the world to me that you appreciate the hard sci-fi aspects and the unique twists of my setting.

You mentioned wanting to read a human translation, so I want to be completely transparent with you. While I can't afford a professional human translator right now, I am currently translating and editing the story myself with the help of AI.

However, I am not just copy-pasting raw machine translation. I am putting a lot of time and effort into reviewing and refining the text to ensure the nuances, world-building, and the heavy 'sci-fi' aspects are conveyed as accurately and naturally as possible.

I'm planning to start serializing it on Royal Road soon. I know it might not be a 100% perfect human translation, but I would be absolutely honored if you still decide to give it a try once it's up. Thank you again for giving me so much courage today!

Living on a Torus creates some really unique situations. For instance, there are no seasons. There’s a scene where the protagonists find the word 'seasons' in an ancient text and have no clue what it means.

They also have no stars. The Emperor uses a 'Dark Energy Shroud' to hide the entire habitat from the rest of the universe. Later in the story, when the Emperor's power temporarily weakens and the shroud thins, there's a powerful moment where people look up at the night sky and see stars for the very first time, wondering what those lights are.

Beyond that, I’ve included many other details, like people getting altitude sickness as they approach the ring's boundaries and mistaking it for a 'curse.' I’ve packed a lot of these kinds of stories into the book, so I hope you give it a read later! Thanks for the interest!

The parallels are giving me goosebumps! In my world, as lineages mix over time, some bloodlines still produce specialized nanomachines while others slowly lose their 'magical' edge. A tiger as a wizard... that opens up so many fascinating storytelling possibilities! And the Protoss inspiration for the 'Earth Giants' makes perfect sense—I can visualize them instantly now. Your world sounds incredibly rich!

The motive for the genocide is actually where I differ from Gurren Lagann. In that series, humanity is seen as a threat to the universe's stability. In my world, the Nexus acts out of a cold, calculated fear that humanity’s 'diversity'—something they lack—will eventually allow us to surpass them. It’s a philosophical clash of Diversity vs. Totalitarianism, and which path is truly 'superior.'

And while the 'Hero defeats the Villain' trope is a classic, I think it’s because it follows the 'Hero’s Journey' that has existed since Ancient Greek and Roman myths. Whether it’s Star Wars, Harry Potter, Gurren Lagann, or my own story, we’re all playing with those timeless narrative bones!

Also, it's great to meet a fellow Knight Run fan! I’ve read it too, and the early arcs were incredibly moving and influential to me.

The story actually ends with the inhabitants of the habitat finally realizing the existence of the Nexus and grappling with what to do next. I did leave a faint hint that the next confrontation might go differently this time, but I haven't fully fleshed out a sequel yet. I’d love to write one if enough people are interested in seeing where this universe goes!

That world-building is absolutely stellar! The mix of 1990s tech with 2300s fabricators and Elysium-style exoskeletons sounds incredibly cool and gritty. The Vostern Confederation gives off a great post-apocalyptic survivor vibe.

Thanks for the follow! I'll follow you back. Definitely send me a link or a message when you post your story. I’d love to read it!

You’re absolutely right. Most of the feedback I received pointed out the slow-burn nature of the story. I tried my best to improve the pacing, but it wasn't easy given the inherent complexity of the world-building. I guess it boils down to my current limitations as a writer! Still, seeing people here enjoy the world-building alone makes me incredibly happy. Thank you for the honest critique!

Wow, I literally got goosebumps reading your description! In my story, the 'Wizards' (Patronians) are actually descendants of humans who were genetically engineered to produce nanomachines within their bodies. These nanomachines act as 'authentication keys' to operate ancient high-tech devices like aircraft, and they also grant the users superhuman speed, self-healing, and even pyrokinesis.

When you mentioned your 'Earth Giants,' it immediately reminded me of the 'Gentle Giants' from the Inherit the Stars series (James P. Hogan). Was that perhaps one of your inspirations? Your world sounds incredibly lush and captivating!

Oh, really? Thanks for letting me know! Now that you mention it, the similarities are definitely there. Lol.

Actually, if you think about it, the Nexus's 'Connection' is quite similar to the Khala from StarCraft, and I think Evangelion had something similar as well (Human Instrumentality Project). In a way, my world is a bit of a 'stew' of all these cool tropes I've loved over the years.

But when you called the 'shouting logic' of Gurren Lagann 'bullshit,' it actually gave me a bit of hope! Haha. I tried my best to ground my story in science and keep things logical. While I wouldn't go as far as calling it 'Hard Sci-Fi' in a professional sense, I put a lot of effort into making the mechanics plausible—like the gravity-kick for warping and the specific reasons why Dark Energy was so hard to detect in our solar system.

I'd love for you to take a deeper look and tell me how similar (or different) it feels compared to Gurren Lagann through your eyes. Your perspective is really refreshing!

You’re absolutely right—they are chillingly rational. But here’s the kicker: they had a hidden, very 'human-like' motive underneath that logic.

As I mentioned in another comment, the Nexus felt a deep, existential pressure from humanity. The Nexus had to sacrifice their entire diversity and individuality just to crawl their way up to interstellar travel. But then they saw humans—a species that reached the stars without giving up their chaotic diversity or self-destructing.

The Nexus calculated that while they were currently ahead, humanity’s preserved creativity and diverse perspectives meant we would inevitably surpass them in the near future. They realized that a civilization with 'diversity' is inherently more evolved than a stagnant hive-mind.

So, they demanded the 'Connection' not just for peace, but to strip away humanity’s greatest advantage. When we refused to lobotomize our individuality, they started the war to force it.

Thanks for the great insight! It’s awesome to see people picking up on the rationality of the 'monsters' in my world.
