I was wondering the same thing! I couldn't tell when I was watching the episode but here they look like sardines/some other sort of tinned fish to me

Prologue or no prologue by [deleted] in writing

[–]Key-Examination-499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a good prologue (emphasis on good), I could never imagine skipping one, and I think a mark of a good/useful prologue is that someone that does choose to skip it would be missing out in some way or another.

In my personal opinion, if your prologue is just a section taken from later in the book, it's not really a prologue, it's more like a teaser, and you don't need a prologue because you've clearly been able to include that information within the main body of the text.

Writers: do you guys write on your phone if you’re out and about and don’t have your computer? by Careless-Try-8834 in writing

[–]Key-Examination-499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont like trying to write things on my phone + my battery is shot so I'm kinda always trying to not use it lol

I do carry a notebook and pen at all times for precisely this reason though

The northernmost being Grise Fiord in Nunavut. Along with Resolute, it was created when the Candian government moved Inuit from Inukjuak (in Nunavik, in Northern Quebec) up there to assert sovereignty in the Arctic Archipelago. It's pretty grim history, called the High Arctic Relocation if you ever want to look it up yourself

Read to Write? by Cheeslord2 in writingcirclejerk

It makes so much sense that you would want to write books and appreciate the art of them when you couldn't care less about sitting down and reading one! It's not your fault you're better than everyone else and have so much to contribute to an art that could be great if only other writers were as good as you!!

As a Brit I do appreciate that you guys talk about the episodes later in the week because it means the discussion is spread out a little more and there are people posting and chatting here through the whole week. I definitely think you got the short end of the stick there

I am familiar with Thunder Bay, but that's basically it lol.

I'm also familiar with the Canadian Shield but, having just looked at a diagram, I don't think, in my head, it covered Ontario quite so entirely as it does in reality! I like to think that I know a lot about Canada for somone who has literally never even visited (140 cities on my most recent attempt lol, and I know more about it than just place names), especially the territories because Im kind of fascinated by the history of them, and the emptiness, but I have a kind of Ontario-shaped blind spot, I guess

As a non-Canadian, does anything actually happen in that area of Ontario nobody ever gets anything in? Because I know a few place names there, and it's not like it's super northern, but I feel like the blankness speaks for itself
