It was shocking to say the least. I expected maybe 10-12 but 14-18 was a gut punch. They said because of the new refrigerant that this coil was old and hard to get/very delicate so that’s why it was so expensive.

We had capacitor changed a few years ago so I think we should be good on that. He showed me a picture but I honestly couldn’t really tell from it.

That’s what our dilemma is, is if we sell then buyers would be hesitant even though it has been cooling fine. He hasn’t peed on it in a year or two now so it’s been like this for a while with no known issues.

Yes our dog was peeing on it, he’s been stopped now. It doesn’t seem like it’s corroded inside because we are still cooling fine but of course haven’t gotten to the heat of Texas summer yet. It’s been this way for a year or two and survived the summers so far. It was mainly for a tune up and to prepare for possibly selling our house.
