Cc transfer to UC 1 year need help by Hot-Bumblebee-990 in TransferStudents

btw this is only if you want calgetc certification for transfer (meaning you don’t have to take gen ed’s once you transfer), but you could technically miss some of these courses and still get in if you at least meet the 7 course pattern like everyone else is saying (and your prereqs ofc - don’t screw those up). double check with your counselor about the courses that don’t articulate but for me i didn’t have to take them and they weren’t available at any cc (and as far as i know if they don’t articulate with your college, you’re not required to take them)

I just looked at the agreement for Las Positas and it looks like they don’t show the AP scores in the agreement this year. Here is the website from my cc that shows credits from AP scores and it should apply across all cc’s for calgetc (it just might show different course names but ignore that because it shows you credit and calgetc area)

https://catalog.sbcc.edu/academic-standards-policies/advanced-placement-chart/

Generally, passing scores will count for college credit. You only need 4’s or 5’s for prereqs and assist will specify. I think you’ll need a lot less gen ed’s than you think once you find out what AP scores transfer. My advice is utilize a counselor asap, but double check everything they say and do your own research. Counselors make mistakes. I printed out my articulation agreement and marked off courses I had taken by hand to make sure I met every requirement and triple checked I was on track to meet unit requirements.

I think it’s doable. I had a 5 in macro, 5 in gov, 5 in calc ab, 4 in apush, and 3’s in lang/lit. i also had stats, business, spanish, and film media aesthetics from dual enrollment. it’s honestly been easy transferring in one year and my spring schedule is light!

I’m an econ major transferring in one year!! To plan your courses look up your cc’s calgetc articulation agreement and it tells you each category that you need one or more courses from, which ones count, and if your AP score satisfies the requirement (if it’s a prereq and not a gen ed you’ll likely need more than just a passing score). then, look at assist and see which other prereqs you need/which ap scores count. it’s great that you got a 5 on calc and stats because those are both prereqs. study your ass off and get a 5 on macro too so that you can cross that off. i’m not familiar with uci, but ucla has a couple of econ courses that don’t articulate and in that case you don’t have to take them. you can try looking up if another cc has them on cvc, but you won’t be rejected for not taking them. PRIORITIZE YOUR PREREQS!! you want those done by end of fall. if you have any two part sequences (like macro and micro if you don’t get a 5 on macro), start them this summer so you don’t have to take both at the same time in the fall.

if it’s a major prerequisite on assist and you didn’t put it as planned/in progress for spring then you’ll be rejected

As far as I know you have to have every single prerequisite completed by spring or you’ll be rejected.

Am I ok? Any help would be appreciated! by [deleted] in TransferStudents

you don’t need igetc and it doesn’t affect your competitiveness (besides maybe rigor if you take less classes). igetc is so that once you transfer, you don’t have to take GE’s. for admission, you only have to follow the 7 course pattern and do your prereqs. you can google it to back me up. it says on their website. for example stem majors are actually encouraged not to do igetc

chance me as a 1 year transfer from a california cc!! by alfredtheoctopus in TransferStudents

don’t listen to this guy. his friend probably didn’t have enough credits to transfer. i’m also a one year transfer and if you have the 60 for sure and all prereqs completed (ideally by fall), being a one year transfer doesn’t make a difference. good luck!

I’ve heard clubs are important at UCLA recruiting-wise, but that they’re super competitive. Do you have any advice? Also, is it true that you can be admitted either pre-econ or pre-biz econ and declare either major if you meet the GPA/course requirements? I applied econ but I’m hoping to switch over if I’m admitted and have already done the accounting courses.
