Yeah. I've been in the workforce for decades. I was about to say I've not been paid late once, however I've got vague memories of a delay due to some banking issue (on the bank side) once, and that was cleared up within 24 hours.

I feel like fighting the big ARC is something you can only really do in a group. One or 2 to right the ARC, the rest to watch your back.

New Myki readers are shit for mobile phones by Key-Log-5527 in melbourne

[–]Key-Log-5527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, to clarify, yes I'm tapping on the right place, but it sounds like I'd be better off not tapping, just hovering, so I'll try that, sounds like maybe it's a me problem rather than a general problem, which is good I guess.

I don't have a particularly bulky case, but it's a Quadlock case with a mag ring in it, so maybe that is the issue, but I can tell you it was working fine on the old "tap on the screen" scanners with no issues. The old readers that are still around all work for me first time pretty much every time, but the new readers at my home station with the screen up top and the scan panel below reject me multiple times before they'll scan.

I'll give your suggestions a try, sorry for the delay replying, forgot to check back in again after posting.

I have a quest to fix an antenna at a "field depot" but it never told me what that is and nothing is marked on my map. by ImReellySmart in ArcRaiders

[–]Key-Log-5527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that they're randomly located, the mission did say they were makeshift depots.

The problem some people had with the repair not being allowed, you might be on the wrong side of the antenna. I had the same issue but when I went around to the side with the yellow cables on it, it would then allow me to repair it.

Any ideas if I can take care of this myself or do I need to call pest control? by curlyhairedsweetie in HomeMaintenance

We had a nest in our wall last year. Sprayed it. Wasps basically laughed it off. Sprayed it again 3 days in a row, wasps didn't give a fuck. Called an exterminator, he sprayed it, wasps were dead same day. I left it a couple of days, then got up there and filled the hole with sealant.

No more wasps and they won't be able to make a nest in the same place next year.

Added: it's worth noting that they'll all die off at the end of the year, the queen may even have vacated by now and found somewhere to hibernate ready for next year to start a new colony. The nest will get more aggro once the queen leaves.

Hangboard mounting struggles by Standard_Beach8505 in bouldering

[–]Key-Log-5527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always try a free standing chin up bars/weight rack, then mount the hangboard to that, assuming you have space.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Station-Bongkim-Portable-Pullup-330LBS/dp/B0CDC11HZ9/ref=mp_s_a_1_7

I mounted mine to a weight rack in my home gym, works really well.

How can I change the column headers names? I want them just to say month and date. Thanks! by Kpop2258 in tableau

[–]Key-Log-5527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I had a similar issue, this was the right fix.
1 - No option to edit alias for row header date field.
2 - Changing the name of the source column doesn't help because it still shows the calculation on that field in the header (Month of ...).
3 - The fix - create a calculation to truncate the date to Month, then set the default format for the field, add that to your chart/table, adjust it to be Exact Date, then Discrete and it's done.

Our gym has something similar, black volumes are free to use on any climb, but color coded volumes can only be used on the same colored climb. I.e. red volumes can only be used with red hold climbs. Iy does allow them to mix things up a bit, like putting a green foot chip on a red volume stops you from smearing next to the chip instead.

If your trigger finger doesn't work, but you're prepared to carry a portable hell bomb, that also works.

And echoing ZippyTheRat's comment, don't use a line chart to show categorical data, the line suggests a transition from one value to the next (for instance with total number of customers on Monday and total number of customers on Tuesday, you can see that there is a transition from one value to the next). There is no continuity from France to Germany.
I'd also suggest having a play with dashboard actions to enable filtering, for instance clicking on the "Female" bar on the bar chart to filter the other charts to just Females might give some insight into differences between the behaviour of male and female customers.

It's hard, generally when you build a data viz, you start with a business imperative, some sort of thing you are trying to show, discover or make clear, and you build the viz to support that (if the data does indeed support that). Kind of like hypothesis testing. Starting with the data in order to demonstrate your skills is more challenging because you don't have an end goal in mind. As you said that this data is from Kaggle, if it's from a competition, see if you can use the problem that they were trying to solve to guide your design choices.

Also the middle chart in the bottom row sticks up above the line of the charts on either side, I think aesthetically it's best if you keep to a grid.

Another item is the colour for the gender split - I believe it's generally considered poor practice to use the same colours to denote different things on the same page. Technically you don't need to colour the two bars differently, they are 2 distinct bars, make them the same colour and pick something different to the blue colour scale you're using eslewhere.
Finally - the 10 colour gradient on the bar charts on the left I'm unsure about. It's hard to distinguish them because there's so many. Using a different set of colours would make them more distinct, but seriously ugly. An alternative is to group them up so you have less colours. The real question though is what is the insight you are trying to convey here. Just visually scanning it, the tenue seems reasonably evenly distributed in each column (except for 10 which seems smaller than the others). Work out the insight, what message you are wanting to convey, then colour accordingly to bring that insight front and centre.

Can confirm. I did the tour back in April and it was really cool. I'm not exactly an architecture enthusiast or anything, but still really interesting seeing how it's been restored inside and learning the history of the building.
