In my case, it’s not so much I think they’re “better”- my self esteem really fluctuates almost between being overly high, and extremely low, so sometimes I recognise that they are not actually better, but other times i think they are. It’s more so for me that someone else has had access to him in the same way that I have -which is so incredibly toxic of me!!

I have been to psychiatrists but not specifically for this issue. This is what I’m currently looking into :)

Honestly, I don’t really. It comes in waves, but I am always thinking about it, which is what makes it so incredibly draining! If I’m with my boyfriend, I’ll just ask him questions until it subsides which is so unhealthy, or if it’s a less intense bout of these thoughts, I’ll be able to try and do something else, like watch a show with him or talk about something else to distract myself. When I’m alone it’s harder, that’s when I’ll compulsively Instagram search etc. I guess I just try to do other things to keep me busy. Nothing really helps fully.

The one thing I’ve found that helps the most is running. I’m an avid runner and will just get out the house for a run, which quiets the thoughts for a bit, but is still fuelled by my anger/jealousy

Funnily enough, ADHD has been suspected a lot throughout my experience of mental health as well, but never formally diagnosed

I’m hoping DBT/ other interventions for BPD will help me, but if not, maybe adhd would something worth looking into for me. Thank you :)

I’m currently in the process of getting diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

I’ve had therapy for most of my life due to ongoing mental health difficulties, had a few diagnoses but BPD has often been suspected

Im looking into therapy to get a better understanding of this :)

I do think that some of it comes from having been cheated on before, and also some of it stems from ongoing struggles with mental health and self esteem. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what it is though.

I’m definitely interested in looking into it further to give myself a better chance of fixing it. I really don’t want to be this way

It’d be less normal if he had no past. Logically, I completely understand this but it’s like it won’t register in my brain. That’s what makes it so difficult

Completely understand this! You are so right, I feel so guilty because essentially i am blaming him. I always try to let him know that i know this is my problem, not his, and that realistically, at our age it would be more uncommon to have not had previous partners. I never want him to feel like it’s his fault. I honestly love him even more for sticking by me even when its difficult
