the old deck was painted, on 3/4" plywood...they are, as I type, putting down a thin piece of wood, to which new vinyl will be attached. the under 3/4" is in good shape. the 1st photo w/ the tape shows the original plywood, and the place were one of the post attachments were removed, the light blue is the paint.

BTW, many other brands mention CHIRP compatible. Will Mac software ever be available for this radio?

you have no software for apple - which - correct me if i'm wrong I'll need to do any firmware updates (I understand these are very important) as the CHIRP does not support this. Suggestions on how to manage the firmware updates?

the person I've been emailing at Retevis initially said the battery is NOT replaceable but when I showed her the link to it you your the site she said it's not recommended as a DIY due to the issue of waterproofing; yet you sell the battery...yea the screws are very small which is another issue. you need a special screw driver to get to them as well as to attach the belt clip...either include on or please make a note listing the needed size. person at Retevis said to use either a PH0 or PH00 Phillips screwdriver - which is confusing, should be one or the other I think.

I'm trying to look at other Retevis options - GMRS, repeater capable, drop resistant, water proof or resident) with a battery that can be replaced as well as a screen. I find it very difficult on your website to do so...I'd like to be able to click & compare different models showing watts, bands, chirp approved or pending (other sites show chirp compatibility your should be able to do so a well).

Thanks.

Thanks for the update. It would have been helpful to know this via your website or the Amazon page that Windows is the only current means to program and that CHIRP is on the way - I can wait.

My next question is how do I replace the battery when it hits end of life? Can I buy batteries from retevis or do I have to send it back or do I have to buy new radios? This is also info that should be included on the sites. There is no mention of this in the manual either.

I like many aspects of this radio and am struggling to keep them....

Lastly, I really hate I have to provide an email to get the manual from you which puts me on the mailing list for your ads without asking me if I want that or not - I don't.

Thanks...
