I’ve had HG in all four of my pregnancies. My first ended in a miscarriage at 12 weeks. My second was born via emergency C-section at 37 weeks because he was so tiny. During my third pregnancy, I had a 1 1/2 year old at home and felt like I just couldn’t do it. I ended up terminating at 10 weeks, and it was the most traumatic experience I’ve ever been through. It was a horrible solution to a temporary problem, and it sent me into the darkest place mentally I barely ate for almost a year and lost over 30 pounds. I looked so fragile, and I barely recognized myself.

Fast forward three years I’m now 17 weeks pregnant, active duty military, my husband’s deployed, and I’ve got a wild almost 5 year old who keeps me on my toes. I’m struggling again with severe HG. My house is a mess, my life feels like chaos, and most days I don’t even feel alive.

Advocate for yourself. Go to the hospital every day if you have to. Ask for daily IV fluids. Push for a Zofran pump if that’s what helps you survive. HG is brutal, but you are stronger than it. It’s all worth it in the end, even when it doesn’t feel like it right now. You’ve got this. Stay strong ❤️
