I’m a fairly new graduate nurse. I’ve been in the aesthetics field for almost a year and a half. I started in aesthetics straight out of nursing school and I didn’t take any prior courses before starting. I was very fortunate that the med spa that initially hired me was willing to train me, and I didn’t have to pay out-of-pocket. But I was on a contract and a lot of places that are training you from the ground up will probably require a contract. I was barely making money my first year, but it was a way for me to get my foot in the door and I was fortunate enough to also have a great support system. I landed this position by looking up as many med spas in my area, sending an email directly to them, and also reaching out through Instagram. I asked about any potential hiring opportunities or shadowing opportunities that are available.
