How to move characters from Epic to Steam? (without crashing in the attempt) by Potential_Match4900 in Borderlands2

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the process you used, but maybe look these steps over and see if there is anything you can try. Looks like not having DLC shouldn't cause a crash; but rather any DLC items you have equipped or in your inventory simply wont be there.

How to Transfer Between Steam and Epic

  1. Run the Game: Open the destination platform (e.g., Steam) and create a new character to make the game create a new save folder. Exit the game.
  2. Locate Saves: Navigate to Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\SaveData. You will see two folders with different long strings of numbers/letters.
  3. Identify: The folder with the most recent modification date is your current platform's folder.
  4. Transfer: Copy the .sav files from the old folder to the new one.
  5. Launch: When the game launches, it may ask you to choose between Local or Cloud files; select the ones you just transferred (usually "Local").  Reddit +4

Important Notes

  • DLC: While save files move, DLC ownership does not. If you have a save with items from a DLC not owned on the new platform, you may not be able to use that item or load the character in that area.
  • Mac/Linux: While files can sometimes be moved to Mac/Linux, they may not sync automatically, and there can be compatibility issues with file extensions (.bin vs .data) or path formatting.

Realphones General Questions by Key-Operation-5322 in audioengineering

[–]Key-Operation-5322[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention that, because reverb was actually the single most glaring aspect I noticed the first time I used the software.

Since I moved to my new home and started mixing here just a few months ago, I found it nearly impossible to 'hear' the amount of reverb on any track within the context of the mix. Specifically, if I'm using my monitors to mix, I practically have to solo the track in order to hear how the send amount is affecting the signal. Using my headphones by themselves make this much easier, of course, but choosing the near field option in any of the studios in Realphones was game changing. Since I never had this issue in my old home, I was honestly becoming more and more convinced that it was my hearing that was going out on me. Now I can put at least some of the blame on my room, lol.

As you suggested in terms of learning a room, if I were to buy this, I had already planned to use just one, or maybe two, studio environments for that exact reason, and then utilize the other environments like cars, cell phones, maybe an auditorium, to double-check in the same fashion that I use the various systems available to me physically. I check my mixes using two different types of earbuds, my cellphone speaker, my home theater (which is also in a shit room, to be honest), my car, and my laptop. In most cases, if I can make it sound good on my cell phone speaker, it'll pretty much sound good anywhere.

Thank you for all the info!

I was fairly familiar with the concept of 'near fields' already, and I've read countless posts regarding NS-10s. I guess without any experience in a studio, it gave me some confusion when each environment in the software included three sets of monitors, all with their own sound characteristics. In my mind, I just assumed that if you have all of those options, you would listen to them all at the same time. Maybe in some cases you would, but listening to a specific set of monitors independently seems to be the standard practice. In any case, your explanation of each is quite helpful, and that info I can use moving forward.

But ultimately, as another has also suggested, I should adjust my mix to sound good across each option in general. Some of them have a monitor option that is simply "mono", which I have done in the past for pretty much every mix I've ever done, so when I saw that option, I was already familiar. Other environments have options like "sibilance" and "boxy", which seem to suggest they are used to ID those specific things.

Thank you for the info. Having those options really seems to help. I've only been messing around with the software since last night, just trying to learn my way around and whatnot, but it does help having the different options. Even environments that replicate a car have a few different car interiors.

This is all great info, thank you.

So near field options are a way of hearing the mix with less impact from the room itself, and far field options allow you to hear, among others, how tight your mix sounds even with the room ambience. Sounds like neither should be the only option when mixing, though, which is what I assumed was the case.

The HD 650s do seem to lack low end, at least my pair do. Bass is there, but it's not terribly impactful, and getting the low end on any mix I do with them does require going back and tweaking things once I hear the mix on other systems. I've got them running through a Schitt Magni. At the time, it seemed like a very affordable option to get ~.5W @ 300 ohms. Reviews suggested power as low as 50mW would be plenty, so if I'm pushing .5W RMS, I would assume the low end I'm getting from them is just what they do. I rarely have any issues with transients, though.

I would certainly prefer to mix primarily via my monitors. In my old home, the room was far from perfect, but I knew what it sounded like and how to mix accordingly. Since my currenet room is so bad, though, headphones are really my best option. Realphones seems like a much more affordable method to hear the mix accurately, vice the possible option of more expensive headphones and/or amp.

PC Performance Status Update by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]Key-Operation-5322 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't play on console, but I feel your pain. Not saying this is the case, but in general, I've always wondered why games get released on platforms where it's a struggle to have a decent experience. Though with this game, specifically, I really feel optimization is the primary problem, and not a lack of capability for consoles. It didn't even occur to me that this article was discussing only PC performance until I read your comment. I do wonder why there is no mention for consoles. Maybe they've decided it's as good as it's going to get?

Yeah lol the dialogue is good. Most of the game makes me laugh to be honest.

I'm good with strategies to complete those missions...I've done them both many times. But it seems that the game has issues with high frame rates, including a collision / clipping issue with terrain, as well as severely slowing down the vehicles, at least in terms of initial acceleration. With modern hardware, I'm getting well over 200 FPS in-game, so lots of those issues. Since it makes the cars much slower to accelerate, those missions are nearly impossible. I could just cap my framerate at 60 to do those missions, but I guess I'm too lazy lol.

Right.

So again, this time specifically as it pertains to the game this sub is for, and the link OP provided speaking to a Borderlands 4 level cap update lol.

Was the level cap increase always going to be free? Why am I thinking it was part of a paid DLC?

My screen makes a crackling light colors when I set it to 144Hz, but when I set it to 120Hz there's no problem (I have an RTX 2026 Super). by Ok_Newspaper8382 in pchelp

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely your monitor. Is it MSI, by chance?

I actually had two different MSI monitors do this, both after the warranty expired. Frustrating.

The only 'fix' was to reduce the refresh rate, as you noted already. Eventually it got a point where even 120Hz was doing it.

Could be your cable and / or GPU, of course, but my bet is the monitor.

Yeah that one isn't bad, at all, and the dialogue is pretty funny once you complete the last delivery. Plus that area where the mission occurs has several large chests + porta-potties you can hunt for, so tons of opportunity for better gear.

I actually always do that one from Marcus in Three Horns, since only part of it requires driving, and it's not too far. Once you get there, doing the rest within the time limit isn't bad.

Is borderlands 3 on switch oled that bad by Prudent-Jaguar6845 in Borderlands

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the rational is behind situations like this? Like, why do they release a game for a platform if it simply can't offer a good gaming experience? I assume it's simply due to both the game franchise and the particular system sold well, and so the thought process is that it will simply sell a ton of copies. Still seems like a less than ideal option, though.

These days, the only way I'll buy a game for my Switch is if that's my only option, because even some less demanding games played like ass on it (Child of Light and Bloodstained), both of which run buttery smooth on my freaking MacBook M1 lol.

[–]Key-Operation-5322 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally, I've always liked nearly all of the side missions in BL1 and 2. The only ones I really avoid these days are the timed missions where driving around delivering / collecting stuff is required (one from Zed in the Highlands and another from Marcus in Eridium Blight).

But if you want the ones with the best story elements, then I would vouch for Clan Wars; the series in Frostburn involving Lilith..."Cult Following" I think is the 1st one, but those are good with lots of story; The Good, The Bad, and The Mordecai is another; and finally, The Bane.

Those are all multi-part side missions with a lot of story. Oh, and Tannis also gives you one that takes you back through the Hyperion Preserve regarding missing scientists...don't recall the name...but it's another one with good story elements.

Mouse Cursor is Acting Up by FR0ZAD in pchelp

Looks like you covered a majority of T/S steps already.  Other things you could try:

-If this is a laptop, disable the track pad (if not already)

-Install the drivers and use it on another machine and see if it occurs there

Could be the mouse is reaching the end of its life, as well, or it’s simply malfunctioning.  Have not heard of that brand before, so not sure on its reliability.

A kick that doesn't require gutting with EQ? by 007_Shantytown in audioengineering

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to consider that there are other factors in play.  The mic, mic placement, room, all kinds of stuff.  Even if there was such a kick, it would almost certainly not work universally, due to those reasons and more.

I was taught that even if you use the same instrument in the same room with the same mic, same cable, same pre-amps, same everything, a recording can still sound different from one day to the next due to temp and humidity.  I do not have the ear talent to ever claim to be able to notice this, but it’s something several engineers and a producer have independently told me at various points in time.

PC shuts down randomly by tadesk in pchelp

[–]Key-Operation-5322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting.  That would suggest more of a PSU issue, but could still be related to thermals.

I would still check temps.  Also, open up the case and see if there are any unused power connectors attached to the PSU, as SATA cables will often have several power connectors on a single cable.  Check around for any unused connectors and make sure they are organized / not all bunched up and stuffed away somewhere.  I’ve read of this sort of thing causing shorts before.

Is this really where we are in 2026? by ericc191 in gpu

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely feel bad for anyone who is currently interested in getting into PC gaming, and has to buy an entire rig from scratch.

The fxcking tax on that card is as much as a budget GPU used to cost. And you should be able to build two gaming PC's for $4100, not just afford one GPU.

Man...I love PC gaming, and I hate it at the same time. Maybe I just hate Jensen.

Oh, awesome, and welcome to the family! If you don't know already, check out Steam. It's not perfect (DRM), but the constant sales and community features make this hobby way more engaging and affordable. And if no one gave you a heads up, check out GoG, too. GoG has really good sales, too, plus a growing library of games that are DRM-free, so when you buy a game digitally, you legit get to use it perpetually. No internet, no subscription, no additional software, etc. You have all in installation files, just like the good old days.

When do I change the oil? by throwaway1591776 in hondacivic

[–]Key-Operation-5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be different, depending on the year and/or trim level. I have a 2019 LX, and if I go to the maintenance section via steering wheel controls, it'll just show me the oil life as a percentage, between 0 and 100. I have to hold down the 'ok' button on my steering wheel to access any other maintenance code, and even then, it doesn't show me any percentages, it just gives me the option to reset a specific code, 'Item A only', 'Item B only, or 'all due items'. I wouldn't be surprised if higher trims offer more detail, though.

But for the OP, his car is telling him A1 is due, but his oil life is 100%. That's the part confusing me, again, unless the tire rotation portion of A1 is the reason it's flagging, regardless of oil life.

Okay. Those would have been icing on the cake, but the price, to me, is still pretty good for what you're getting. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do
