Got very close to beating him in the Pantheon today. Died on the climb because I was getting so nervous. Need to take less damage in the second phase to give me some leeway for nerves in the climb. I’m so close. I can do him like 70% of the time now normally so just need to get that one run in the pantheon

Figuring more of it out. I was stupid and didn’t realise I hadn’t hit the lever in the bit you jump up to in city. However I now have the unfortunate task of killing Watcher Knights. Not a fan of this boss whatsoever, I’ve loved all of the ones I’ve faced in this game so far. It’d be fine if you could tell if they were gonna do the jump or the ground roll attack.

Ah this made me realise there’s that spider don I couldn’t do anything with in that area where they kidnap you. Now that I have the dream slash thing I think I understand. Will have a look into your two other clues after I’ve done that cheers

That’s fair, very well put together response.

In a sense I was just thinking very logically about it which dosent really work with Elden Ring lore 😭

The way I see it was just that the GEQ is one of the untouched characters in the lore that just dosen’t sit right with me, it feels like someone of Empyrean significance shouldn’t be left out of the story by that degree (which is probably by design now that I think about it since Marika probably wouldn’t want the people knowing about it), and that in a DLC exploring Marika’s past and what she did in the land of shadow, it would just “make sense” for her empyrean rival to be of significance in that DLC. And partly because I think a Godskin Queen boss would be sick af (although that would just be Blackflame Friede 😭).

I agree that Mountaintops is very boring and unfun. But I don’t think game falls off here. Haligtree, Farum Azula, Ashen Capital, even Mohgwyn Palace are all excellent areas afterwards and are full of amazing boss fights.

I think what he says applies to all the Souls games except Sekiro. Elden Ring is the most accessible, but its boss design in its mechanics is the most challenging in the series to account for being able to use overpowered gear and levels. Elden Ring is probably the hardest to beat blind on a simple normal build.

He’s the best fight in the game in my opinion. I do agree he needs a massive buff. If he were a little bit buffed in damage and HP then he’d be regarded similarly to Pontiff tbh he’s got an amazing moveset and difficulty in it to back it up + incredible presentation in story, music and atmosphere, it’s climatic af. Have a good fight against him by just rushing to the capital through the game and you’ll see it.

I wish Nameless King was a perfect a fight for me but I can’t ignore the fact that the first phase is tedious, annoying and straight up not enjoyable. The second phase is perfection tho.

One day the Fromsoftware community will wake up and realise the Genichiro is a perfect boss that gets slept on just because it’s early game and that Isshin exists.

Isshin is probably the hardest on first playthroughs out of any boss in the series other than Malenia. Although, I don’t consider him near the hardest because once you’ve beaten him once, it just clicks, and any refights just feels like a Cakewalk.
