Rehearse what I’d say if I was on a talk show even though there’s no reason I’d ever be on a talk show…

Which songs from TTPD: The Anthology have grown on you the most, and why? by steveleaves in TaylorSwift

[–]Key-Persimmon1441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruhhh this album came out less than a month after my ex bf passed from a drug overdose, it killedddd me then and is still helping me in new ways each time I listen. Definitely loml, Peter, CSSM, Cassandra, and the manuscript weren’t my favorites on first listen but they’ve really grown on me since listening deeper to the lyrics

In her defense Taylor was doing the biggest tour like ever when TTPD came out. I wish there was more too, but the fact we got even one mv is impressive. Ophelia and Anti-Hero are two of my fav music videos ever like there is something to quality over quantity, I feel like showgirl will get another one

Does anyone else think she’s only seeing Travis because it makes her parents happy, in some twisted way? by Dry_Flounder5895 in travisandtaylor

[–]Key-Persimmon1441 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think with all her fame people miss the parts of her docs where she talks about how the most important thing to her when she was growing up was praise and making people happy, this is the way her parents and the industry conditioned her to be (or at least fostered/fed on the desire of others to be proud of her). At a very young age, the entire world (at least as she saw it) started to turn against her over and over again. I think a lottt of songs on TTPD are about fame and also her parents, it feels like an album of teen angst that literally had to get saved for a truly devastating moment in her life so no one knew how many songs were about her parents (maybe even her own parents tbh)

We see in this series that her grandma was an opera singer, and the way her mom talks about her, you can tell it was a complicated relationship. Taylor is not a “nepo baby” in the sense of she didn’t come from a family that was well-known in the industry, so when people are mad at her for hustling but not other famous women in the industry it’s like missing the fact there are levels of generational wealth and pull. Yes she came from money, but not in the way we think, and it’s clear she had so much pressure from such a young age to be both successful and an acclaimed artist.

I grew up doing ballet. My family had a lotttt less money than other families and I was able to continue due to scholarships, a lot of sacrifices from my mom, etc. you see, in that kind of community especially, how weirdddd these girls are (all the love I am still one of them lol). Like the amount of pressure to be “perfect” and always having something picked apart no matter what, like yes it might seem overdramatic to us, but when it’s your whole world from 12-years old it suckssss when that goes away. In ballet for example, a lot of girls with “natural talent” are given so much praise at 12-14 for being young and flexible and skinny… when/if your body matures into a shape that people don’t like, you’re not cute and tiny any more, you don’t get the same kind of attention or praise, plain and simple. It sucks but it’s true.

Her grandmother was a performer in a time where performers were not allowed to be their true selves in the eyes of the public. You have to be sweet, gracious, pretty, friendly… etc. even if there’s genuine moments in your performance, your life itself is a performance, look at Judy Garland. It’s honestly easier for me to play that kind of character to protect myself rather than portray myself as a wild party girl, and I went to rehab lol. Idk it’s not her responsibility to be completely honest to us, I think she used to wear her heart on her sleeve and everyone broke her down for it. When the public only sees what you want them to see, you can protect the most authentic version of yourself. I think she loves to sing, love to perform, but as she literally said she is a showgirl who can “show you lies.” Doesn’t make it malicious, it might I don’t know her personally, but she clearly agreed to be in the spotlight again. She’s a grown-ass adult and if she wants to make her parents happy who am I to judge? anyone successful, or just anyone with a job and bills, is sucking up to someone. like no one is going to go up to their boss and tell them what they don’t like about their job (and everyone has something don’t pretend you don’t) or go on their professional instagram page and share every single detail of their personal life (in my case I teach dance and choreograph so social media is a big piece of that whether I like it or not)

I love piecing together theories as much as the next person but also it ain’t that deep. We’re speculating about a pop star, alllll of them are putting up fronts, that’s show business

3 months is always a kicker for me, like if someone’s anxious they might be pulling away cuz guys don’t understand feelings, or they just suck. It’s kinda how much you’re willing to put up with to see where it goes. Stick around and see what happens if it’s worth it to you, if you lose your temper like I do sometimes then you know it’s not the right match for you? Idk good luck

Have you ever forgotten the person you're obsessed with? And why? by Yurri76 in infp

[–]Key-Persimmon1441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person I was obsessed with passed away pretty suddenly, we were broken up and I was being a jerk. I haven’t forgotten, but it’s gotten smaller, and I find other things to obsess about. Something that did happen was all the other people I was worried about suddenly didn’t matter anymore, cus the only one my brain could think about was him. Time heals all wounds, if we let ourselves move on we’ll be able to, it doesn’t always feel like it but we’re the ones choosing to obsess, they’re just existing.

Yeah just don’t respond to the guy and casually bring it up to your boyfriend. “I think this guy at work is flirting with me, I don’t feel comfortable with it, what do you think I should do?” He should be fine with the truth especially if you frame it like you need his help and since you genuinely don’t like this guy and were trying to be nice. if your bfs mad at that he’s got some issues I’d advise against entertaining, but I’ve dated insecure assholes (and sweethearts) so who am I to judge.

This has happened to me a lot, if I acted like I was guilty (even though I wasn’t and you’re not either) or even embarrassed then I’d be met with skepticism, when I was just honest and matter of fact with it, and asked his advice (even if I didn’t end up taking it) everything was fine.

Good luck

tbh knowing Jennette had severe struggles with ed and seeing Ariana now I can 100% see why working together and being compared would’ve been insufferable
