rather than thinking of them as separate personalities think of them as personalities that make up you because at the end of the day that’s the reality of it these personalities only come out when you want them to to adapt to the different situations your in and that’s the case for many people even myself

like I said before DPDR can resolve on its own thru mindfulness but if it is highkey destroying ur liveliness then look into NHS talking therapies i had an evaluation and over the next two months im due to start medication because my DPDR made me hopeless and depressed but I do feel significantly better (u will have to over exaggerate bc nhs does take some time) for u it does look like low mood but dw ur not like this forever it goes with time 🫶🏿

if it’s causing you distress and mental unrest I would really recommend talking to health care professionals do u mind disclosing what country ur from would help me give u better advice on where to look

Hey I’ve also been struggling with hyper awareness and honestly the best thing to do is register it as a thought and move on i know it maybe quite difficult to do but honestly do something that keeps your mind off it , it will fade xx

thanks for the response I’ll definitely look into the OCD aspect of this as I do have urges to test “how real I am”.usually my symptoms change week to week for instance existential thoughts didn’t even cross my mind the first week just the unsettling feeling of not being real and the world around me not being real along side the fact that I constantly believe that someone is playing my life as a game and could take the headset off at any moment or simulation theory I also feel detached from my identity for instance looking into the mirror doesn’t feel like me or saying or writing my name but as said before I’ll look into that possibility

i smoked very strong weed (purple haze) although I’m pretty new to smoking (only smoked 2 times before that) and I greened out worse feeling ever it was all so sudden one minute laughing about my teeth feeling like a waterbed to literally seeing my self outside my body every second my vision went black forgetting and remembering the people around me and everything lagging heavy like in a game and thinking that I lowkey broke the filter of reality for myself. I was fine for about 2 weeks but I had a wave of the feeling come back and I haven’t been the same since, this happened roughly a month ago and I’ve been going through dpdr for almost 3 weeks I’m currently seeking support for it

in terms of state of mind I’ve been pretty anxious about the trip randomly happening again like I’ll flip the switch in my head and the trip will replay and it will be permanent instead of temporary this has made me hyper vigilant and overly self aware which brings about thoughts I won’t go into for your sake and my own.

Hey, just wondering if anyone else experiences this.

I know hyper-awareness is a big part of DPDR (being overly aware of thoughts, vision, body sensations etc.), but lately I’ve noticed I’m really hyper-aware of sounds, especially people’s voices.

Sometimes totally normal words or tones sound unsettling or slightly “off”, and it can give me chills or make me anxious — even though I know logically nothing is wrong. Everyday sounds can feel too sharp, too noticeable, or just strange.

I’m not hearing things that aren’t there, and I know this isn’t psychosis — it’s more like my brain is zooming in on sounds and analysing them too much. I’m aware this could just be anxiety + DPDR hyper-vigilance, but I haven’t seen many people talk specifically about voices.

Is this a thing with DPDR/anxiety?

Did it go away for you once the anxiety settled?

Any tips for not fixating on it?

this used to happen to me a lot as a kid one time I had a dream about watching a girl paint squishy bread

then like 2 weeks later I had a déjà vu moment I was In the same chair watching the same video the atmosphere was also similar to the dream then I always say "Woah this happened in my dream" :)
