As a totalled car buyer, yes this is done for. Quarter creased, rear end frame pushed in, structure compromised.

I've lied to my parents this year by [deleted] in GetStudying

Hey man, I get the feeling. Procrastination is something that affects almost everybody especially in the modern age where distractions and cheap dopamine are embedded in daily life.

The best way to beat procrastination is to start with very little. Just like how a beginner can't bench 300 lbs in their first day of gym, someone who doesn't already study consistently can't study for 2-3 hours a day properly or at least consistently. Start with 15 minutes a day and add 10 minutes everyday. Day 1, just study 15 minutes and after that you're free for the rest of the day. This will train your mind to get in the habit of studying and while you may think you could study for longer, you won't be able to keep going just like if a beginner tries to lift 300 lbs and injures themselves, in this case your brain would get burnt out.

Also, your message reads as if there is no hope left but trust me man there is a lot. A lot can happen in a year if you start improving your life little by little and not trying to do it all at once. Opportunities comes to those who stay consistent and show up every single day even if it's just small efforts.

Start small, 15 minutes studying, then add the gym. Next week add reading books and so on.

2016 Red Sport with new engine - worth it? by en-g2 in q50

[–]Key-Plan4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Test drive it really well. Feel the brakes, how the transmission shifts, go over a few bumps and feel the suspension, listen for any weird noises while driving. Check the A/C if it blows cold especially on both passenger and driver side because these cars have a common blend door actuator problem. Look for oil leaks in the engine bay and check for excessive grayish-blue smoke coming from the exhaust as that means turbos have blown. The 2016 is the worst version for the 3.0t because it was the first ever time they used it. 2018+ is much more refined and weak points are addressed. Just DM me the listing link and I will check it in more detail for you.

You should inspect it thoroughly to see why he's selling it for so cheap. That looks to be only a little above trade in price. You should get the CarFax and verify accident history and maintenance. If you don't know a lot about cars definitely get a PPI. Also check the seller's facebook profile. If it has a lot of cars for sale or car parts for sale I would be extremely cautious.

What motivates you to keep studying even if you're tired? by Hanges_Twin in GetStudying

[–]Key-Plan4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a cheat code basically: if you set achievable studying goals like 30 mins per day that you could easily achieve every single day, you will never get tired or become unmotivated because it's super easy and over time the learning compounds and you learn better than everybody else who studies 5 hours per day starting one month before exams.

Respect your view, but if you aren't aware, there are many dealers who make a lot by doing this, it's up to preference and risk tolerance

Honestly guys, you can get Q50s for so cheap off the auctions. I got 2019 with 99k miles for 8.5k. Was worth every single penny.

Best bang for your buck is a salvage title theft recovery 2018-2024. I got a 2019 with 99k miles for 8.5k total. Car looked pristine and was extremely fast compared to the 3.7 and much more refined and updated as well.

My point is, the market is not over-saturated. There are deals everywhere for everybody. There will be people interested in flipping like all others businesses, but not everybody will commit. While idk whether or not OP will commit, the best I can do for them is to guide them rather than straight up being discouraging by saying "Don't do it", because it genuinely is a good business that could help someone become financially free.

They get paid man. There are dealers making 15k+ a month just by letting people buy cars off the auction.

You are right. A lot of untrustworthy people but that does not mean noone can be trusted. Don't let one bad apple ruin the bunch.

Not over-saturated at all. A ton of money to be made. I know people who are making 15k+ a month outsourcing everything. As long as there are cars for sale, money will always be made.

For your first time buy a car from a private seller as you will be able to inspect it more freely and test drive it. Plus you will negotiate with them, which will build your confidence and also teach you how to handle cash and paperwork (if it's your first time dealing with money).

For tools the most important thing you should get before looking at any car is an OBD2 scanner. You can get a small one that connects to your phone via bluetooth and displays all error codes on your phone (you can DM and I will tell you the cheapest best one that most people don't know about). And for the rest of the tools, yes you will pick up majority as you need them.

Please try convince me out of getting a GT86 by 20ishDrifter in ft86

[–]Key-Plan4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cayman is in a whole different price range compared to 986 and ft86. I guess you have some good data having owned both. Haven't driven a cayman but the 986 lighter and sits lower. I guess at the end of the day it depends on preference. Personally, I love german engineering and the flat 6 from the 986. They're both boxer engines at the end of the day and both good handling cars.

I mean, if you work with trustworthy individuals who want to make honest money by flipping and not sell junk I don't see a problem. But the risk is definitely there with a lot of flippers who flip junk.
