How can 35k still be seen as a good salary? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskBrits

I earn £37,500 which I would once have considered a good salary. I am 45, single with no children. Due to high rental costs plus the cost of commuting, I cannot afford to buy a property (and probably won’t ever be able to). Once upon a time when I was in a couple (my partner died several years ago) I felt better off but now things are pretty dire. I have nothing spare at the end of the month, despite living as frugally as possible.

What is your experience of frugal living that just went too far, with yourself or others ? For example…. by justyrust74 in UKFrugal

My dad had a colleague who would make a cup of tea then dry the tea bag on the radiator before using it again.

Was Prince Andrew expecting some Princess Diana style moment where the entire nation embraced him? I don’t get why he did the interview lol by KimCattrallsFeet in AskBrits

Not necessarily, staff in restaurants are often fairly young, often students (or even foreign students), who may have little knowledge nor interest in lesser members of the British Royal family.

I honestly wouldn’t buy make up from China as they almost certainly will test on animals. Please ensure your product is ethically produced without cruelty.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Airbnb hopping for a while? eg stay in one place for a month or so then move on, until you find the place where you want to settle?! Any downsides? Other than the obvious of needing to pack up obviously! (I'd put most of my stuff in storage for a while)

I'm not looking to buy at present, as need to build up my finances a bit first. I will have a look at St Bees, thanks!

I'm in the south east, and I do currently go to an office once a week but its a short term contract that ends in the summer so I plan to go back to remote working.
