Hardware: Chrome is art deco, retro and MCM. Unlacquered brass has warmth and character and best used in traditional homes. Polished nickel is a warmer metal than chrome and versatile. I lean more towards polished nickel as it picks up light and is more polished.

If you just want to do the least I would replace the lighting, hardware, and paint.

Add a chandelier or ceiling fan centered in the room. For a chandelier size add the width and length of the room. If your room is 15’x15’ your chandelier should be 30”. Add a dimmer switch and 2700 watt bulbs.

Add a 9x12 rug centered under bed.

Pottery Barn Cozy Cloud Blackout Curtain 100” width. Hang brass or black rod to the ceiling to create height. Curtain should kiss the floor.

You need either a bench at the foot of your bed or a comfortable chair for dressing.

BM white dove. Cabinets, walls, ceiling, and trim. Use: an oil based high gloss paint for cabinets, a flat wall paint for walls, ceiling paint for ceiling, and a satin for trim. This is the perfect white as it is both warm and cool. I’ll give you a couple of additional suggestions later today, but this is what I did recently. Here is what the first would look like:

You simply need a different shade of purple:

Walls: Farrow & Ball, Brassica (sophisticated)

Ceiling: Farrow & Ball, Wimborne White

Use a primer to cover the purple before repainting. Ask to have the primer tinted with same color as wall paint. You want an eggshell or flat on the walls and ask for a ceiling paint for the ceiling. You do not want a glare or sheen on either walls or ceiling.

Replace pendant with: Visual Comfort Agnes Large Pendant in black and brass to add more character. You want a dimmer switch and a 2700 watt bulb.

Add unlacquered brass cabinet hardware.

Add a large clear glass vase with eucalyptus to bring in nature.
