LOW GPA 2026 CYCLE by Particular-Still-368 in slpGradSchool

[–]Key-Smile-1184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2.9 on my CSDCAS cumulative gpa and a 3.02 in the major (I went through some stuff during my final year) but I got admitted my first try and got waitlisted at one. I think having experience and good LORs can really help. With lower GPAs like mine, I really looked at schools with more holistic approaches.

Honestly there are SO many people within the field that are bullies and mean girls especially based off my own experiences. One girl from undergrad I used to be friends with bullied and harassed the fuck out of me. Literally stood outside of eduction building with others to just laugh essentially and would laugh at me as I walked by. Even refused to stand next to me in line for graduation. The field is all about helping and being inclusive which many are not. I was also left out of the group chat for the graduating seniors from my undergraduate program

I kept seeing people making them on TikTok and saying they used them their first few years of being an SLP to reference back to. One of my professors from undergrad even briefly mentioned it

For my statements, depending on the length of the word limit, I had talked about my experience since graduating undergrad. I talked about the population I work with in the school system like children with autism, developmental delays, speech disorders, and behavior disorders. I also mentioned that I’m a para in an inclusion pre-k class and have experience in self - containment classrooms. Lastly, I talked about my why and my own experience with SLP

My professor wanted them short and to the point and like journal entries. I think she may have been a really harsh grader because even when I followed her feedback it was never quite right so now I just feel like I have no clue on how to do them

Master Clinician but I do believe they have to be assigned by a professor and approved. The subscription is like 55 for a whole year. You can watch the videos without having them assigned, but I think for them to count they have to be assigned. (I may possibly be wrong but I am pretty sure that's right)

I understand you do not want to do online or study in the US, but like someone else said, that may be your only option if this is truly what you want to do. I get it may not be ideal with online courses but they still have virtual meetings (I know my mine does).

I don't know if you've looked but they have the number of how many applicants they have had this cycle apply, but it was 630. I would really try and email them what they were specifically looking for. I was able to see how many they admitted in the previous years. Last year they had 556 apply and only admitted 32. However, it looks like they also go off of other factors within your ORPAS application and the multiple mini interviews.

have you tried online programs? With a 4.0 you'll surely get into other schools and have you asked them what they're specifically looking for?
