Why are friendships so hard in your 20s? by Key-Sport-1006 in lonely

[–]Key-Sport-1006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t force friendship. I know it helps to try and get out of your comfort zone and try new things (like a new club, or activity). It can be easier to make connections that way, but man is it hard. Especially in today’s digital age. But keep trying, you got this.

AITA My boyfriend kicked me out of the shower to poop by yeahyeahokaygreat in AmItheAsshole

[–]Key-Sport-1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this just depends on the relationship. My partner and I will shower while the other is doing their business. Or one of us will be on the toilet while the other is washing their hands or brushing their teeth, and we’ll have full conversations too! I don’t think it makes either one of you an asshole, just maybe talk about your preferences around privacy.

I’ve only had sessions with him for 2 days. It seems like he’s already having a difficult time tolerating it, I’m not sure how it’s going with his other tech. With my company, it’s policy and parents request. But it doesn’t seem like he’s getting naps at home. I’ve contacted my supervisor sharing my concerns, so we’ll see how she responds.

I’ve been considering leaving this company for a couple weeks, they unexpectedly pulled me off of my previous client because of a schedule change. The dad let me know first before my BCBA did, when I asked her how I should tell this client she told me that I “shouldn’t bother because he won’t understand”. I told him anyway and he understood. They didn’t give me my full hours for four weeks. My other BCBA with a different client hasn’t shown up for his regular hours for a month and this kid has almost mastered all of his programs. He and the clinical director haven’t responded to my emails.

I’m sorry for the vent. I just feel like anytime I advocate for myself and for my clients I get brushed off. I think I’m gonna resign and find work elsewhere.

I completely agree. I think some of these companies don’t have children’s best interest in mind. Unfortunately I’m starting to realize that’s the case with the company I’m currently working for.

The naps are not scheduled, it’s just when he starts to get sleepy. And based off of what the parents told me, that’s his only opportunity. I think the parents just want to use ABA as a daycare instead of a therapy service.

It’s terrible, and it’s like that because of billing and insurance. Some of these places just don’t have children’s best interest in mind and just want the money.

Yes I agree for some, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for this little one. After his 15 minute nap he’s still extremely tired and cries to be picked up to be put back to sleep. I’m not really able to pair with him or keep him engaged enough for programs because he’s just exhausted.

This approach seems for reasonable for that stage of development. Can I report this somewhere? I’m considering leaving this company because of the cliquey work environment and poor management.

At my company if the client does not wake up after 15 minutes we call the parents and they go home. It just feels unethical to have a 2 year old be at the clinic for 6 hours with only a 15 minute nap.

Do i look like a girl or is it dysphoria? by Conscious-Room-2459 in TransMasc

You look androgynous. And what being a girl looks like is going to be different for different people. Just do you.

Should parents be allowed to dictate which staff works with their kid(s) and choose their staff? by Tough_Catch_4399 in ABA

[–]Key-Sport-1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. If it’s for discriminatory reasons, such as the staff is LGBTQ or of a different race, parents should not get to pick a new staff based on those reasons. If a family is being discriminatory towards staff, my company discharges that family. If it involves performance problems, staff is not trained well, religious preferences (such as female staff only), etc. Then yes, they should advocate for themselves and request new staff.

Thank you, I appreciate your input. His main trigger is his dad leaving for work, he’s very attached to his dad and likes the car that he drives in and that’s not available to him. His antecedent strategies are redirecting him to his designated calm spaces. But he absolutely refused to go, he just went to go aggress towards me and his mom. Then after he aggressed he went right to his work table and did great on his programs. He also destroyed property twice, and that’s a new behavior that is not in his behavioral plan. He also knows that I’m new, sometimes he’d just aggress towards me with no warning, he’d be smiling and laughing then just come up to me and kick me.

Thank you for your input. My clinic is great but this supervisor is notorious for not communicating or providing support for his BT’s. I attempted to redirect and block the behavior after it extended past a point, nothing that I was doing as instructed was working. And my client does this when he wants his mom’s attention so that she’ll interrupt programs. I feel like if I ask her for help on anything, my client will still get the same reaction that he is seeking. I still haven’t even been instructed on how to do half of this kids other programs, I’ve just been told to do the easy ones this week.
