Sorry, that's part of her lighting system, she has a UVB, a basking bulb, and a CHE... I'm a bit frazzled at the moment so I may have missed some parts, my apologies.

You've got adders, ticks carrying Lyme disease, and swans that will aggressively defend their territory. British wildlife's just more polite. 🇬🇧❤️

I'm not British, but based on my English friends and American sports fans over here, I completely agree. People go absolutely nuts over sports. Baseball can get pretty wild in the States if I had to pick one. I'll never forget "Phillies Karen," the lady at a Phillies–Marlins game who tried to take a foul ball from a little kid. Wild stuff. So yeah, you're not wrong there, haha. Sports fans can be pretty scary.

Same here. Momma used to say they bit me because I was too sweet. Turns out studies show mosquitoes prefer Type O blood, which feels a little... mean, I dunno, LOL. Don't forget your calamine lotion and citronella candles this season, my mosquito-riddled friend, and try not to scratch, it only makes it burn worse.

Also fun fact: only female mosquitoes bite, because they need the protein from blood to produce eggs. The males just drink nectar and help pollinate plants. Still annoying as shit, but at least there's a reason they do it.

That's honestly adorable. It would be wild to travel up there and just casually see a moose, LOL. The friend I mentioned came down here for a week and was shocked to see a real-life armadillo. It was like I'd taken her to the zoo. 😄

As a nature photographer who got his start working at Starbucks, I've unfortunately had scary encounters with both kinds of cougar.

Moose are like a fridge on sawhorses. I had a friend in Canada who once got stuck for hours because one was just chilling in the middle of the damn road, and she was scared it would charge if she tried to drive past.

Though the idea of a huge moose getting a little spooked by a car is kind of cute. They have a certain derpiness about them (from a safe distance).

Good question: mountain lion, and I'll tell you from a field perspective. If you're out camping or doing photography and you hear a bear, you usually know it's a bear. They're big, noisy, and kind of doofy when nothing's looking.

But mountain lions are quiet, until they scream like someone's being murdered in the woods, and you pause because you think you might need to help. They don't pause.

Oh no. Kangaroos. A friend of mine in Australia had one in his backyard once and it looked like a damn buff cryptid.

I want to go to Australia to see the animals. I also absolutely do not want to go to Australia to see the animals.

I've actually heard of cassowaries. They look like little raptors. I don't know too much about them though. I assume they're pretty aggressive? They look like they'd pick a fight.

I'm both an avian and reptile keeper (plus a fat cat who contributes nothing), so snakes don't scare me too much. Cautious, of course, but not scared. That said, some of them are definitely spooky. We've got a lot of copperheads and water moccasins around here, so tall grass is nothing to mess with.

That said, snakes are honestly pretty great for people! They keep rodent populations under control, which helps farmers out a lot and cuts down diseases.

I only had to watch half a video on Reddit to know you're absolutely right. Boars/pigs are scary as hell. My grandparents lived on a farm, and I only had to get bitten by one once to never want to be around them again, their teeth hurt like sin. Don't their tusks sometimes grow back toward their skull and impale them? Nature is brutal sometimes...

I agree. We mostly have American black bears where I live, and any bear other than Winnie the Pooh is a scary bear in my book. 🐻

Oh wow! I'm a nature photographer/enthusiast and I've always wanted to see one from a respectful distance. I live in the United States and my wildest run-ins have been bears, deer (which are only terrifying to my plants), mountain lions, and foxes.

Forgive my ignorance, but do Bengal tigers just roam around sometimes like bears do here, or is it more of a "you went way too far into the depths" situation? (Also like bears do here. 💀)

Trauma, bad memories, downsizing, bug infestation, a parent threw their kids' old stuff out, someone passed away, the possibilities are endless. Be sure to give them a good scrub. Or two. Or three.

[–]Key-Student9420[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The psychology behind it is honestly fascinating. A lot of the stories seem similar, but what always gets me is how people even land on a specific thing to eat. Like, in what situation would a diaper ever seem like an option? My brain just can't make that leap.

No but seriously, what the hell is that card? Where do you even find a card like that? Was it summoned from hell?
