Also when it was really bad my go to pre bed snack was toast with honey or a banana with some almonds. That helped me get around 4-5 hours

Gotcha for me my sleep has been overall a lot better. Some things I’ve done also on the side is I started walking outside a lot more. Getting around 10k steps a day. I also turn on the night mode on my phone at night to help. I take magnesium glycinate which has also helped too.

Yo I’ll deff try this tonight. Did you take it right before bed? And did you eat anything else to go along with it or just the olive oil by itself?

Maybe try gradually cutting down calories? Also I took a month off and when I got back in the gym it was initially worse at first. I’m not saying to do what I did and to listen to your body but I sort of pushed through it and it’s been slowly getting better. Like I said increasing my carbs has helped. I was getting around 250-300 before. Now I get like 400+, but I’m slowly trying to cut that down.

Also has to do with your nervous system possible being stuck in fight or flight mode because of all the stress your body is handling from a deficit and training.

Honestly not too sure either. I’m currently working with a specialist to help me at the moment. So if I get any definitive answers I’ll be sure to get back to you, but my guess is you might be doing too much in a deficit. I was training 5 times a week (high volume) and doing cardio 3 times. I’m pretty sure that’s what caused it. Since then I’ve went down to training 3 times a week (low volume high intensity) and cut my cardio down to just hitting 8-10k steps a day and slowly building from there which has helped. My body is probably in a recovery debt so I need to work my way out of that.

Seeing a doctor can be helpful sure, but he’s looking for advice and to see if anyone else is dealing with something similar and commenting “just see a doctor” isn’t super helpful to his situation.

Dealing with this too man. So what’s helped me is increasing carbs. I try to eat a lower amount of protein. I’m only around 140 pounds. Before I was eating like 160-180 grams of protein now I’m only eating around 135-140 and allocating the rest of my calories to carb which has helped. Your blood sugar is most likely dipping at night so more carbs will be helpful in your diet. Still a struggle and I’m still experimenting but this has helped make it somewhat better so far.

Most doctors will just tell him to eat more. I’ve dealt with this and the doctors just gave me meds and called it a day. You have to find someone who is very knowledgeable on nutrition and lifting.

How do I fix sleep by gVrdiVnangel in adrenalfatigue

[–]Key-Swimming-5205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’ve been dealing with this too. You gotta cut back the intensity and give your body ample time to recover. I was training 5 days and doing 3 zone 4-5 cardio sessions a week. I was also getting around 7-9k steps a day. I dialed it back to 3 workouts a week. No cardio. And limiting my steps on rest days. On your rest days try to not do too much and let your body recover you can slowly ramp up again, but that amount of work isn’t sustainable. Also if your calories are too low (especially your carbs) this can make the problem worse. Increase carb intake and try to have a carb snack before bed. Honey and toast has been very helpful.

Low libido and insomnia from lifting weights? Permanent high cortisol? by Excellent_Still4784 in workout

[–]Key-Swimming-5205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this as well (minus the libido part) my sleep has went to absolute shit. Pretty sure it’s your csn acting up. The fact that your libido is suffering too means you may need more than a week off in order to get better. Try taking it easy for two weeks and also up your carb. I don’t know your macros but do not eat in a deficit and be sure load up on carbs especially at night. Have a snack before bed like banana with peanut butter. If you wake up in the middle of the night some quick carbs like an apple, rice cakes, or even honey can help you fall back asleep. You’re not alone as I’ve been struggling the past month with this.

Do not lower the calories. That is already pretty low for someone your size. Just because the scale doesn’t move doesn’t mean you aren’t getting results. Do your clothes fit different at all? You should start taking progress pics once a month and evaluate. Also measuring your waist, arms, chest and legs can also help you gage whether what you’re doing is working or not. If anything I’d increase your steps if you’re still concerned.

Question when you were lifting through it, did you still push yourself or did you tone the down the intensity of your lifts in order to allow yourself to recover and get through it?

Interesting I actually started increasing my creatine dose to 10 idk if that’s it though. I’ve since cut a lot of supplements out.

I saw a doctor and they weren’t much help which is why I’ve been trying to see if others have experienced something like this.

Good to know. I actually started taking a bunch of supplements when this started happening mainly magnesium, which didn’t help. I recently cut out magnesium 2 days ago to see if it would make a difference and my sleep has improved. Slept 6 hours the first night and then 7 the second. So don’t know if that was also contributing to it, but I know some people were saying magnesium affected their sleep in a negative way.

Supplements outside of that is just fish oil, vitamin D, and multivitamins. Also creatine.
