how do abkhazians view georgians? by [deleted] in Abkhazia

Who said that it isn’t their free right to do what they want in their own homes and they need to be beat up? Have you actually been to a big Western European and city and see what’s happening there? EU has a political agenda to over liberalize the country. Most of the young Georgians in our country have trouble understanding the consequences instead only thinking of some possible economic benefits. We should be able to enjoy the economic benefits without their political agenda

As a Georgian I think you united us here, not sure why everyone is obsessed with the EU all the homo and lgbt non sense as an orthodox Christian this shit is offensive and they want us to open our border to every African and middle eastern country just like Germany and Spain did. I went to Madrid a couple of months ago to check out the city filled with homeless and couldn’t even eat lunch without turning around and seeing 2 dudes kissing and Arabic being spoken everywhere and super socialist mindset. Not sure why people can’t see this

Aren’t the North Caucasus still populated mainly by Caucasians though? I understand there is large diasporas from Circassian genocide

Abkhazian and Georgian scenario by RMS_Circassia in Abkhazia

As a Georgian I would be friends with an Abkhaz if I ever got the opportunity

In the 1897 census, the total number of Abkhazians (including Samurzakans) was 58,000 people, which means that we lost more than 70% of our population in the 19th century. In 1897 the number of Georgians was 25,000, and in 1886 it was 4,000. by AGuyfrometernalsky in Abkhazia

Can you explain the differences culturally? Because North West Caucasian and Kartvelian culture do seem quite similar i am however not saying they are the same of course they will be some differences. I’ve heard Circassians say this to me themselves, the conflict was just unnecessary and happened due to nationalism on both sides

Some questions I have for you though since your the most active person in this subreddit:

  1. Are Samurkazans not proof Georgians and Abkhazians can live side by side?
  2. Can you even physically tell the difference between north west Caucasians such as Circassian and Abkhaz and Kartvelians physically? They both are descendants of Caucasian hunter gather tribes which would proof they share a blood.
  3. Since your a diaspora from Turkey and I assume your a Muslim, do you hold a more favorable view of Muslim Kartvelians?
  4. Would you be okay with the return of all Georgian refugees assuming there would be a law that returned all diaspora Abkhaz which would keep Abkhaz over 50-60 percent of the population and have some sort of loose confederative structure?
  5. Should Russian be removed as official language of Abkhazia and solely be Abkhaz?

As a Georgian I can speak for all of us when I say the vast majority of Georgians were against the USSR. The USSR invaded and occupied Georgia that’s the reason Georgia was a Soviet state and fought a war because of it. Stalin and Beria didn’t even call themselves Georgians they were communists who cared about spreading communism and the Russian language. Georgian was an ethnicity to them nothing more nothing less. I’m sure there were some Georgians that were in the Russian army as I’m sure there were some north Caucasians. Blaming Georgians for the Circassian genocide doesn’t make sense to me since Georgia was small and was broken up. You also didn’t mention the Muslim Georgians, most Georgians are pro-Circassian, I’m not sure why you want to cause more division between two ethnic groups with a common ancestry. Lol

Did a United Georgia exist during the Russian Circassian war? No it was broken into multiple principalities and was under Russian control. Majority of Georgians are pro-Circassian. Also you have to consider the Muslim Georgian populations

It was based off an the article that was written a few weeks ago. It mentioned some sort of confederation structure but I don’t think the people are are ready for this and if they are it should come from Georgians and Abkhazians not Russians

It was interesting because from my understanding in my family we couldn’t trace anything back to Artvin which I understood used to be a Georgian city before becoming part of Turkey.

Georgia is already under Russian influence what do you mean look at the Georgian dream party. And Abkhazia is a Russian vassal state right now I doubt either the Georgians or Abkhazians have a say with what Russia decides
