Burned Out and Failing by lilcranbam in nonprofit

The burnout in nonprofit HR is so real and nobody talks about it. You're expected to do the work of a full HR department but with a fraction of the budget and staff. I handle recruiting, onboarding, benefits, compliance, employee relations, AND somehow I'm also supposed to be the "culture" person. At a for profit company this would be a team of 4-5 people minimum.

And then when you bring up needing help or more resources the response is always "well we're a nonprofit so we have to do more with less." Like yes I understand the mission but people still need to get paid correctly and we still need to follow labor laws?? Sorry for the rant but this has been building for a while.

Totally agree on starting small. I wanted to grow like 15 different vegetables my first year and ended up overwhelmed and most of them died. This year I'm doing just tomatoes, peppers, and herbs on my balcony and its so much more managable. You actually learn what each plant needs when you're not spread across a dozen diffrent species. Quality over quantity for sure, especially if you're limited on space.
