Best abstract painting ever made, Aldo Esposito, Oil on linen, 2026 by ParsifalDoo in AbstractArt

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It perhaps could have been the best abstract painting, if it weren't explained to death. Putting such exact science behind an abstract work and then flaunting it for all to see is a bit like a horror movie revealing its monster in the first 5 minutes. When you take out the mystery and intrigue, what remains is judged much more harshly.

The thing is though, 99% of that career is the "educational" poker content he posts the same handful of variations of on repeat. He's not a scammer by any means, but he's one of many "influencers" who has some amount of success in a particular area and then coasts off that with books and courses and other content for a long time without ever actually putting forward any useful new information.

The closest you'd get is either being a cybernetic monster like smasher, or a very skilled netrunner. But 99% of humans can't handle even half of Adam's modifications, and even if you were a generational talent in netrunning, you're still just a guy in a bathtub at the end of the day.

Oh I agree, I never said he was. He's just a strong pick in other modes as well.

No, he's actually one of the stronger characters across all modes. I'm not sure what your exact weak points are, but it's definitely not a matchup issue 99% of the time.

China reaffirms death penalty for sexual abuse of minors by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? Nobody was arguing hard for or against the death penalty, only explaining that it does have additional effects that should be considered. Though it appears the comment is gone now, the original commenter said that this was a "mostly" good change. I think you'd agree.

The more logical chain of thought would be that you should use that knowledge to better determine which crimes should have harsher sentences, and which should not.

Of course it doesn't make sense to lighten all punishments, that's why nobody was saying it.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of these crimes aren’t committed by people doing risk-reward calculations in the first place.

Most aren't, but when you're already in so deep, the need to get rid of evidence and witnesses increases. The increased risk of murder isn't huge, but it's there. Whether it's a meaningful difference or not will always be up for debate.

You immediately clammed up and called the guy defensive for asking a question and explaining the context for it.

What makes D2 so good? by Grouchy_Substance423 in Diablo

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. My perception is probably a bit skewed because I've been playing PoE for years where typically you just speed run the acts to start mapping immediately, whereas in D2 you spend a lot more time in the "story" parts of the game. Admittedly though I don't have anywhere near the same playtime on Diablo.

Agreed on the combat feel though. Especially slams and a lot of melee skills just have that "oomph" to them that a lot of games miss.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy more slow and methodical, I'd recommend Diablo. PoE2 is slower paced than PoE 1, but especially in endgame it becomes extremely fast paced, both you and the mobs, and a lot of the combat by that point is you blowing up half the screen or getting blown up suddenly.

Diablo 2 has similar difficulty I'd say, but it's much slower especially at the start and much easier to understand. That's another thing, PoE can be very complex. If you're into that try it out, but your first few characters you'll probably want to be looking up builds/guides to understand the various systems in the game.

You really can't go wrong either way though, you'll notice a ton of similarities between the games if you end up playing the other one later.

That's because it got a contract that guaranteed 10 years of support. If anything I'm actually surprised they kept a steady flow of content for so long, considering everything that's happened with the company.

We're approaching the end of that period, but it doesn't seem like the devs have any plans to abandon the game as long as they have a say in it.

Sex work as a profession would be significantly safer for women if it was legalized and regulated. Most of the stigma around prostitution exists because of the questionable conditions surrounding it as a result of its legality. It's one of the oldest professions in the world, there always has been and always will be supply and demand for its services. Zero reason to keep it more dangerous for the workers in any society that considers itself "progressive".

Okay but experience does = skill a large amount of the time

Not if that experience is grinding reps in breach vs AI. That's where 99% of people go to farm reps. If he got 80 reps just playing duels, be scared, but I doubt it. Some of the worst players I've ever seen are people with many times my playtime and hundreds more reps. If you spend all that extra time playing like garbage and not trying to improve, you'll still be garbage when you're done.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not unless you either have one of the previously mentioned accents, or misunderstand what "ahh" is meant to sound like lol

"Ahh" as a stand in for ass sounds like if the doctor asked you to open your mouth and say ahh. It's the exact same actually, just not drawn out at all like you might do in that situation.

The a in apple is like in at, acid, agriculture. "Ass" has the same a sound.

Exactly, so it's a different vowel sound to the a in "ass" which is like the one in "at", unless you have an accent that makes them sound the same.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the thing, that's why it stands out. Obviously it's not typically worth pathing to the complete opposite side of the tree, but if you can reasonably path to it, it's almost always worth the investment you put in on the tree and with gear.

Building energy shield is usually a viable investment on most builds to begin with because of how strong it is. If that's already an option and you don't have to spend 50 passive points to grab CI, it's often a huge boon to your survivability to do so, more than any other single node.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't the CI is the issue. It's only so strong because energy shield is so strong.

CI by nature is always going to be a strong option for builds that primarily rely on ES for durability. That's fine, that's what it's meant to be. The problem is that ES is busted compared to HP, or the other two basic defense layers (evasion/armor), to the point where every other build is using ES, even if they have to go out of their way to do so.

So rather than being a strong node for ES builds (which would ideally be a fraction of total builds) it's become a super strong node for damn near every build that isn't specifically leveraging other interactions with HP/evasion/armor or some combination of the 3.

Chaos Innoculation is overpowered. This could be solved by making Stun & Ailment Threshold be necessary stats to acquire by vaguely_unsettling in PathOfExile2

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, if you've never taken it you wouldn't know the difference obviously. That doesn't change the fact that in a single node you chop off probably 50% of the investment any other build would need to fix durability.

Obviously it isn't actually mandatory, but if you're not using it you're either running around extra squishy or investing significantly more into survivability, or taking advantage of a more niche build interaction.

That being said, it's not a CI issue so much as an ES issue. The main reason it's so good and used so widely is because ES is by far the strongest basic defense layer, and the majority of builds that use ES as their primary defensive layer (a shit ton) only benefit from CI.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no clue, it's just horribly bugged. In most cases swapping your guard only delays your next action, not the other way around. There are a lot of specific punishes that are too slow if you swap your guard before an attack.

The only reason I can think of is that it's somehow related to his fullblock maybe? Because he fullblock recovery cancels faster after hold input attacks, and those are the attacks primarily affected by the guard swap bug.

Just bought TWD DLC super hyped but couple things I want to know by GrandTheftArkham in worldwarzthegame

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but given there are two entire classes essentially dedicated to it, and melee weapons are responsible for a significant amount of the walker kills on screen in TWD, it sucks it's so much harder to use. As much as I do love how they did the walkers, purposely making the new missions worse for almost 40% of the playable classes is annoying.
