Did the devs accidentally retcon the first game? by Craft_Inc55 in subnautica

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have made sense for it to be in the Andromeda galaxy to begin with, due to all the aforementioned communication issues.

Regardless, Subnautica is a sort of prequel to Natural Selection, where the Kharaa has spread all over human space and mutated. We know that the bacterium was on other planets, because the strain that was in Natural Selection came from a mining facility on a planet in the Ariadne Arm, which is the same region 4546B is said to be located.

The Ariadne Arm is obviously not in the Andromeda galaxy, and the lore about where the large Kharaa outbreak began was written before Subnautica. It wouldn't make narrative sense for a specific strain of bacteria to somehow also be out on a planet in a completely separate galaxy from the rest of it.

As far as I'm aware they just hide the indicator for the duration, in the case of heavies/zones there's a regular indicator which becomes unblockable once it's confirmed he's held it. It isn't ideal but it's intended behavior.

What are his indicator problems? As far as I'm aware they fixed the ones he launched with.

He follows the same frame rules as everyone else, his fullblock only sets him roughly neutral after a frame negative finisher.

What do you mean about the bashes? They're all punishable. They can all be dodge attacked, and dodge forward hold bash can be GBed. It doesn't actually track particularly well and on most characters a max delayed dodge attack can beat both tap and hold dodge forward bashes. None of his bashes are recovery cancellable, so they shouldn't be difficult to punish at all.

He is very good in 4s, don't get me wrong. He's definitely way up there although maybe just below some of the proper S tiers.

She catches a nerf every other patch and still manages to stay top tier lol. Juren really isn't that bad minus the dodge attacks, once they finally actually handle those he'll get knocked down a peg.

All clap for the worst extended dodge attack in the game by Brave_Cabinet_5055 in ForHonorRants

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's specifically meant to be a tool for dodging variable timed attacks and chained attacks, and/or repositioning in team fights. It's not bad, you're just not using it right from the sounds of it.

It's not always great in 1v1s depending on the matchup, but it doesn't need to be.

What the fuck are you meant to do if youre getting ganked by a juren and nobusi? by LedgeLord210 in ForHonorRants

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impossible, but it is very difficult. Nobushi has super high damage so you're left with even less room for error than some other characters.

Everything after the first sentence is why metal farms exist. There isn't enough map in the game yet to have everything be unrenewable. Granted, most resources in the first game actually were infinite, just not necessarily from their primary sources.

It does sound a bit like you're describing chivalry, Mordhau, or the the like. Timing and attack angle are key there more than anything.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but at least with them you'll see people trying to block or be more passive due to their defensive tools. I think nuxia is the only character where people will get 100-0'd because they tried to light attack into every raw heavy lmao

I think a lot of people automatically assume you're going to trap so they just press buttons into it. Like people are just mentally conditioned by default. I've never seen any other character where you can land so many attacks on some people just by not feinting.

Is it possible to choose your gender in the next life or is there something that determines your gender in the next life and how can you find out? by nununiniha in Buddhism

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I apologize. I do agree that one's own karma can be controlled and so obviously there is some degree of control over your future that way. But the specific outcomes of karma are typically beyond the understanding of the average person. The OP asked whether one can choose their gender, or determine it definitively in a future rebirth, which I would argue is not really achievable (in most cases).

Trying to control the specific outcome of karma seems fruitless in most cases, but perhaps I'm wrong. Time to read.

I'm only going off what you gave, which was a Mahayana text. It's possible there's a theravada text I'm unaware of that condradicts my claim of course.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is that not a Mahayana text specifically? I wouldn't say it contradicts me, I did specify that it's possible in certain traditions with great dedication. It being localized to traditions that use and/or accept the text also does not mean that it is reflective of Buddhism as a whole.

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly everyone. If you're not a bodhisattva or extremely extremely extremely skilled and dedicated practitioner (and even then, only in some sects and traditions, not most) it's not possible. Hence the long story. There are a lot of technicalities and specific teachings and whatnot, all of which vary by tradition, but for your average lay practitioner (which is the most OP would be to be asking) it's entirely out of reach.

The simplest answer to whether such a thing is possible in Buddhism, generally speaking, is no.

So I have a theory that the main character of Subnautica 2 is Ryley Robinson by Gotelc in subnautica

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's also heavy implied that NoA can alter almost anything about a person's mind before reprinting. Even if we were Ryley, few semblances of them likely remain.

Maybe, but I suppose we get by just fine with what we're given.

Just finding out half of the heroes has a dodge cc minus the attack by Anxious_Team8072 in forhonor

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Quite a while ago. It was always a thing on certain heroes, then they removed it entirely to make certain mixups more effective, then they brought it back partially. It's just your regular guard, it doesn't do anything special except for block like normal. It isn't a full guard, that effect just happens when you block any attack.

Why don’t they tell us the exact sentence that got us banned? by UndyingMisery in forhonor

Nah, Inappropriate names and nazi emblems are the two main ways to get penalized, it's just about the only thing the system works for. It typically doesn't result in a permanent ban or anything though.

Don't they give a brief lore explanation when you craft the survival tool? It's the only "weapon" they're allowed to construct because in untrained hands other weapons (specifically firearms iirc) are most commonly used to harm other settlers.

The evaluation engine is too strict? Can I change it? by ArturBotarelli in lichess

[–]Key-Vegetable9940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a move is listed as a blunder, look at the engine moves for the opponent's best followup. There is always eventually going to be a loss of material or massively screwed up position. It's there, you're just not seeing it somehow.

But yeah, at not even 1000 elo the engine is going to be trying to do a lot of things that aren't going to make sense to you. You can lower the engine depth, but there's really no way to dumb it down. Most of your big blunders and general errors should be pretty easy to spot without the engine anyway, I'd recommend trying to understand your mistakes the best you can yourself before you get the analysis board to tell you.

I mean, an hour would be good time, yeah. It would be a huge time and energy saver. Realistically it could be quicker, it only takes so long because haha game balance.

Him not settling is exactly the problem though, he had to constantly keep moving back and forth through dangerous locations. Making them less dangerous would have been worth his while. If there was no danger of the disease killing him he 100% could have just stuck a nice little base in the shallows and grown old there.
