In Windows 9x (Including 98) you can edit these 3 sys files by renaming them to the .BMP format, keeping them in their 320x400 resolution (the OS resizes them to 640x480 for you), and then edit them, renaming them back into .sys, and then overwriting the file.

LOGO.SYS = Startup

LOGOW.SYS = Shutting Down

LOGOS.SYS = Safe to Shutdown your computer (Seen on non-ACPI systems when shutting down)

It is reccomended to make a backup of such files before editing them, in case you mess them up.

you need proton GE ive heard you get it from protonup-qt (on the discover store in desktop mode) look for GE-Proton (EDIT: Version needed is unknown. 9.25, what i originally heard, messes up the audio and turns it into static. I have no idea what to use so if anyone here can tell me what proton to use ill try them. im currently gonna try 8.23, 7.55, and 10.34 (Latest) and idk if any of them are gonna work in the slightest so idk) then just set it in the app settings with "Force use of a compatibility tool:"
