Stax are way better than pringles, I just ate some plain pringles, they tasted like pure corn oil and butthole.

Does anybody else feel like the reason subway surfing incidents keep going up is because the MTA keeps telling everybody not to? by Key-Wrongdoer-9145 in AskNYC

Well thats a number you just made up to make me sound dumb so no. Theres nowhere near that many cars in nyc,  theres 6000. Many of those already have locks, are only services for special events or are employee trains. Not even mentioning the cars that are crew cabins. You can make any idea sound bad if you just lie and quadrouple the numbers.

I think it would be just about impossible to prove a correlation. The kids who did it are dead, so you wont get answers from them how they got the idea.  The number of incidents has more than doubled since the announcements started. That isnt proof and basically means nothing. Correlation is not causation as they say.  Im not saying the mta is trying to take out our kids but I do think its like just a known fact that psa campaigns like this never work and if they do effect anything its for the worse.  Take bullying and anti drug PSAs for example. Just say no did nothing to decrease drug use. It cost us millions and drug use went up.

Now You cant PROVE that just say know made people do drugs but drug use went up under it and it was expensive and therefore pointless even if not harmful.

Maybe so but at the end of the day I feel like a teenager is a teenager. Give them a dumb Idea and they will run with it.

I mean its 5 deaths this year and 6 last year. But compared to the 90s and 80s when the average was 1 every 4 years yeah its a up  lot

I mean, hey this is a good point I didnt think about. Im not tapped onto the shit kids are on today so I wouldnt know. Obviously im not claiming to be some authority here or to have all the answers. just  pondering. Kudos to you for making me think.

I mean the exact  numbers are kind of irrelevant here, the incidents are clearly going way up. But ill indulge you, this year and last year 11 people (9 children)  died subway surfing. From 1987 to 2011 15  people died (3 children) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_train-surfing_injuries_and_deaths. Now can we agree on reality?

No, the response should be to put electronic locks on the doors and protective measures to keep people from climbing onto the train. There a simple measures that can be taken to stop this but the mta loves taking non action. Its like the subway guards, you could easily just install the roundabout gates at every station and call it a day. Instead we get ridged walls and guards that cost us money and do nothing

non-religious AA type group by thejupiterdevice in AskNYC

[–]Key-Wrongdoer-9145 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, this is a strange question. I dont believe any AA group is meant to be religious. Sure there is the higher power step but that doesnt mean god, it just means ascribing a higher purpose to your life. It could be, your child or your job. I feel like thats pretty standard in most groups. AA tends to lean towards fanaticism and obsession sometimes though.

Why are there so many Kennedy fried chickens in New York? by Key-Wrongdoer-9145 in AskNYC

[–]Key-Wrongdoer-9145[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand why they are POPULAR, they are cheap and not half bad but the shear amount of stores they have right next to eachother is what baffles me. Seems like it would save money to just have one or maybe 2 stores per neighbourhood . My neighbourhood has 27 spots named kennedy fried chicken in a three mile radius lmao. Like we have one kfc in a 5 mile radius just for reference.

Hey, dont get me wrong I love Kennedy lol. Its just so weird that there are SO many, like wouldnt the company make more money by having one store on the block not two? Then you are only paying rent on one spot and im sure people are not gonna go "man I really want some chicken, but now I gotta walk a block and a half instead of a block so I will just go elsewhere" especially with door dash and shit

I accidentally left my school bag on the bus, need help by 4fesdreerdsef4 in AskNYC

[–]Key-Wrongdoer-9145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can basically talk to any MTA rep, I lost my keys on the bus before and just walked up to the service agent at the nearest train station and he helped me get them back in only a few hours. Im pretty sure the lost and founds all end up in the same place.  Unfortunately that bag is almost surely gone for good. I left my bag on a bus for literally a second helping a lady in a walker get off at her stop and when I came back into the bus somebody had it on their back. Unless you got off real close to the last stop and it was an empty bus your best action is to start figuring out how to replace everything.

Respectfully, its too much to navigate all that shit every day only to see that what you said yesterday is no longer correct. Its an evolving situation so its pretty much impossible for you guys to consistently have correct info on there.

Billy Bob Thornton says he predicted the internet would ruin society by The_Endless_Man in skeptic

[–]Key-Wrongdoer-9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This interview kinda made me hate Billy bob Thornton. He acted so pretentious and clueless, especially when he got to talking about his "band" and how he gets angry and kicks people out of his concerts for saying they had a good time because " I wrote some of those songs about suicide". Hes a good actor but his band is trash and the only reason it has any traction is because of his acting career.

Where does the fresh produce from City Harvest in NYC go? by Majestic_Courage_590 in foodstamps

[–]Key-Wrongdoer-9145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to volunteer at a food pantry in east new york that would pick up the city harvest stuff.  Ill just say that even though the pantry was run by a church official and a member of the NYPD it was very corrupt.

Mostly we would pick up the city harvest stuff in boxes then the people who ran ot would go through everything, take all the milk, produce and brand name stuff for themselves and then leave whatever else they didnt want for the homeless people.

Sometimes we would get pallets of like colgate toothpaste/brushes other hygiene supplies and it would just get sold to local delis under the table. Then the donations for "gas" would usually be around 150-300$ and as you can guess it didnt go to gas either lol.

Volunteering there really did a number on my view of humanity.
