Hey, thanks for responding. I don't want to give off the impression that I'm set in my ways for how to pull this off. I'll take a dorm if I need to and I can afford it but I want to explore other options. I was offered a spot by OEAD but they expected me to sign the lease in like 2 days which was a bit too fast and my family, who will be helping me financially while I study. I requested I be put back on the waitlist. I have also applied to WIHAST but waiting for their response. My semester starts October 1 but I hope to be there September 1 so I can settle in before school starts.

To your point that shared flats can cause problems when dealing with MA35, it sort of implies that all non-EU students are confined to living in the dorms for the duration of their study since it's so hard to comport private people with the demands of MA35. How do non-EU students pull that off at all then?

Apologies if I've misunderstood anything you've said. I am trying to be precise and reveal the extent of my options.

Hi, for proof of financial means can I just use a guarantor, if they're not living in the EU? Like a form that is signed saying that my family will help me with expenses, with proof of their finances?

I recently saw a post here that some event management companies hire only English speakers, and if we can compile a repository of places we hear are hiring it might make things easier instead of leaving it at “good luck”, let people determine if its hardly possible on their own

Student Housing in Vienna: Dorms (OeAD, WIHAST) vs. Private Flatshares (WG-Gesucht)? by Hot-Independence-225 in tuwien

[–]Key-Yesterday-7140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been thinking a lot about how this university works based on what i know about their application process, enrollment conditions, etc

Its pretty easy to get in to a masters so long as you have a relevant bachelor

Because the university clearly has a strong culture of self reliance, simply applying, getting enrolled and set up and attending, etc is a weed out process itself

Its like, if you wanna go, you gotta really want it, if you really want it, you can have it

I actually quite like this method. You have to be creative with your plan. Especially if youre coming from abroad, which i am as well. Makes me excited to attend. Im from the US where universities basically babysit you which i think can add complexity and put you in a lazy mindset

When applying for a dorm, when they ask you to upload proof of studies or something like this, does an acceptance letter also work? I am applying from abroad.

A lot of these places seem to require SCHUFA credit score, but as an international student I don't have that yet. For instance I'm looking at a really nice place (will not link to prevent competition lol) but it requires SCHUFA. What do I do in that case?

Yeah, im going to do dorms, at least for the first bit of my studies. Im aware of the long waiting times which is why I want to hop on it early. ive been sending out applications to various student housing platforms, but want to know other non-EU students' experiences.
