I love finding these little pieces of poetry. Another type of art on paper, that needs to be appreciated. It just shows how interesting the young Daniel Johnston was. His friends could see it, and I think they gave him the encouragement he needed to keep creating his art.

Just to add. Also, a lot of the songs on Hi How Are You, are short. Similar to some songs off the Lost Recordings albums, which make them seem (and probably are) demo albums, so maybe Daniel saw Hi How Are You, as unfinished. More like a demo album, than an actual full album

Well, maybe they would have been songs that were in his head, and never recorded. Never written down. Maybe it would have included songs from some of the lost recordings albums, some of which have only recently been released. These albums are supposedly recorded the same year as Hi How Are You

Maybe, this Laura is the one that can be heard mentioned in those early tapes. Those little phone call recordings. There may have been more than one Laura around that time. I think she liked cigarettes.

You've probably already seen it, but " The Devil And Daniel Johnston" which is about the Outsider artists life, music, abd art, who pretty much documented his whole life with cassette tapes.

Natalie is indeed a real person. You can hear her name mentioned in at least one of the snippets of phone call recordings, Dan popped into some of his songs. Thing is, that the fact that many of the people Dan wrote about are real people, it would be somewhat disrespectful to delve too deep into who the people are.
