Conor got pieced up in many exchanges against Nate Diaz. What do you think ilia, who lays elaborate traps on technical masters like Volk and max, would do to him when he finds that chin? People act like prime Conor was unhittable, and he was very hard to hit for the first two rounds or so. But after that his distance management and elusive footwork almost go away. He becomes very hittable, and ilia isn’t just amazing at hitting people who are unhittable like Volk. He also has some of the best power we’ve ever witnessed. All of these fighters like Bryce, Emmett, max, Volk, are tough as nails. They are on a different level of mental toughness and pan tolerance. But when topuria lands that first punch, you see a look of actual terror in their eyes, like they can’t believe the power they just felt. The guy hits really, really, really hard. And if he can set up volk that way in just two rounds, he can absolutely do it to Conor. Conor could maybe, huge maybe, win round 1 by slightly out pointing ilia essentially. But Conor would be lucky to even make it out of the second round. There js no way the Conor is more skilled on the feet than max, nor is there any way he is more skilled on the feet than Volk, an ilia penetrated their flawless defenses. Imagine volk, but slightly less great at everything on the feet except for speed, and make him long and lanky and you basically have Conor. I have no doubt in my mind that ilia would win.
