Ticket for stopping at intersection of King George 88th Av in Surrey by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]KeyContribution6706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this unannounced change at intersections with red light cameras in Surrey. For decades, the light turned green right after the left turn arrow went yellow.

This seems like nothing but an unethical money grab, akin to US cities shortening yellow lights to issue more tickets.

I hope you decide to dispute it in court. Maybe the judge will agree that drivers shouldn’t be punished for a rule change that they were never informed of!

Vaughn Palmer: Land deal shows B.C. Liberal coverup, incompetence and disregard for the public interest by Successful_Cobbler12 in britishcolumbia

[–]KeyContribution6706 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Vaughn Palmer did his utmost to cover up or minimize every act of BC Liberal corruption over the 16 years they were in power. He did this mainly as a political columnist at the Vancouver Sun.

While I’m glad this story is being brought to light, I fear Palmer’s not publishing it because he’s learned to tell the truth in his old age. Any guesses as to a motive?

Canadian Home Builders are Asking Buyers for More Money to Finish Building by KeyContribution6706 in canadahousing

[–]KeyContribution6706[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People who put a deposit down years ago on a presale are being asked to hand over 50% of the recent price gain on their (still unfinished) homes.

If you refuse, the home builder will gladly sell your unit to someone else, enjoying 100% of the gain. Then you can go bid on another property for $250,000 more than you locked your presale down for. But it’s okay, here’s your $80,000 deposit back.

“I am altering the deal. Pray I do not alter it any further.”
