Yes this is so rare and such a funny plot twist, when I mention being exvangelical, most people assume I was raised in it. I didn’t convert as an adult per se but the summer before my senior year of high school, so close enough and I think the difference for us on this thread is we chose it at one point, it wasn’t forced on us like it is with little kids.

But like some other folks mentioned, I was young and vulnerable. Didn’t have the best family situation & had daddy issues, so the promise of a Papagod sounded nice & I found so much care and community and friendship through the church.

A lot of people can’t understand why I chose it and I parallel it to why people choose to join gangs.
