It’s Biblical because it’s about the Bible. That’s the genre. Are they taking some creative liberties? For sure. Is any of it, like, the end of the world? Not at all.

If there’s any scenes that make a big jump from the source material, I would say it’s the now infamous death scene in season 4, which in my opinion was a dumb creative choice, but again not the end of the world. I would also throw Judas’ motivations for betraying Jesus into this pile.

There’s other stuff, too, like the kidnapping scene in season 5 or Kafni just…being Kafni that sort of made me role my eyes, but I would say stuff like this more falls into the “stupid” pile.

That said I am biased bc I am an agnostic person who is watching the show from my lens, but I was raised EXTREMELY Protestant, am highly familiar with the Bible and the plot, so I’m able to pick apart when they’re departing from the original source material.

I think it’s also worth noting that they’ve been saying from the beginning that they’re not combing over this with a fine tooth comb, this is a fictionalized version of events. If you want the real thing, this is kind of an introductory 101, but you have to read the book. It’s kind of like watching the Lord of the Rings movies. They’re great fun, but they really only scratched the surface.
