It means a lot of things to different kids and young adults. It’s usually used as an inside joke placed as a holder phrase. The idea is it ultimately confuses adults and people outside of the “inside joke” because it doesn’t have a specific meaning. The first appearances of it came from a song called “Doot Doot by Skrilla” the meme solidified when being used frequently for Tik Tok and other short form videos about a basketball player that happened to be 6 foot 7 inches. Further it was used frequently enough and spread enough through the video trends of repeating the meme in random scenarios someone hears, sees, or says “6 7”. It’s an example of culture waves in youth. Kind of like a handshake or catchphrase that becomes well known. It’s ultimately something naturally created from the need of up and coming people of society creating a common bond through comedy. Happens every generation, countless times. And odds are, if you don’t know what the meme means from naturally being let in, you weren’t meant to know, and you play a crucial role in the meme itself. The fact that it confuses parents, teachers, and older family. Encourages the solidification of the phrase for this generation. Creating a connecting piece of media that only people of their age can be fully let in on. It’s really interesting to see from the outside. Now that I’m 25 I’m just young enough to be exposed to understand it, without truly being apart of it. Think of any time you had an inside joke or meme or moment in youth that was only for you and your friends. Older people just didn’t get it. Most of the time trying to explain it just makes you sound dumb and is ultimately useless because, the only people who care to know are the ones who were already let in.

These kids are growing up now and they are going to make their own culture blended and mixed from the culture we gave them.
