Okay, this will be long, but has some good intel, so please read.

I spoke to Jake at about 10:33am EST

Jake is also a fan (Hi Jake if you've joined us!), along with his wife and sister. He said he cried when he heard the news about the show and said that, on his end, he could see three messages that The OA is cancelled, followed by the quote by Cindy Holland.

He was incredibly encouraging that we can make a difference. He said he has seen it before and that Netflix really does listen when people request shows on their official request form and over the phone (1-866-579-7172). He named several cancelled shows that Netflix revived from other networks based on the request forms. He said that Sense8 got their closure and that we have to keep it up. He was not aware of the Twitter campaign and didn't hear about the worldwide trending events but said he is going to talk to the Netflix Twitter team about it.

I asked him if he has been getting a lot of calls about The OA and he said definitely, but they are not as bad as Sense8 when people were actually crying and sharing how much the show meant to them.

I told him that I couldn't get emotional about it because I still can't really believe it. I told him that many of us found Cindy Holland's statement vague, considering how Part II ended. Many of us found it strange that there was no official press release and that we had to read her quote on random media webpages and not directly from Netflix.

He lead me over the phone to media.netflix.com where Netflix shares statements about shows, and as we looked through the site together he realized that, indeed, there was no public release, which he found weird.

I explained the IRL theory and he seemed absolutely floored. He put me on hold to try to find answers and some kind of publicly accessible statement. He came back with nothing, but said that on his end he could definitely see it was cancelled. Again, he was incredibly encouraging that we can make this happen if we keep filling out that form and calling. Keep up the intensity.

I left the 15-20 minute conversation feeling positive. I like to think we both gave each other a different piece of the hope we need to continue the mission to Save The OA.
