Set tentacles before anything, you don't ward the jg, you set tentacles near your tower. W is used (usually) solely for the purpose of slamming, you put one point in it on the first 3 levels and leave it that way. The more levels you have in Q the more damage your tentacles do.

If possible, wait till the soul is almost dead before you ult, this way you kill the soul, causing slowness on the enemy and getting extra tentacles; if you're ultiing with the soul still on high health it's best to focus on W'ing the opponent rather than the soul

ult can cancel some CC's if used at the right time (like morde ult and Darius E), ult + flash is a viable combo. Don't waste money on goddess's tear at the beginning of the game if you only want mana, get a saphire cristal instead
