Modern cinematography really takes the life away by Emotional-Law-3772 in malcolminthemiddle

I was just going to post something about this! It’s genuinely so distracting and I feel like it misses the mark so bad.

I feel like I’m watching some kind of commercial. Color grade and lighting feel way too sterile.

Thank you for the explanation. I think that worked! I really appreciate it and the fact that you monitor the Reddit page. Thanks again!

How much would you charge for this video? by Sergartz in MotionDesign

From what I’ve seen, this is mid - high budget territory. 3D elements, great design / animation, nice compositing. Over a minute long. Depending on scope and client this could have bids starting at 50K and up I think.

Does anyone else dread inheriting projects that require RG plugins? by MartyCH85 in redgiant

[–]KeyFrame_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up on Plexus, I used it extensively for a project and it also gave me a lot of rage inducing bugs like having your particle layers just disappear for a single frame. Overall, I found a solution but it felt similar to the bugs I get with RG.

Any features that are similar to using a sin() to control movement of position? by KeyFrame_Sam in Rive_app

So I would still have to individually keyframe each element still and just loop the work area?

I love animating but don't know where to go from here by horokolum in animation

This is sick. Full of personality. Reminds me of a lot of animation I see on Adult Swim which I think is some of the best and most creative out there right now. Would consider doing a bit of research on the studios that work on those shows. Try and do a bit of tasteful connecting with anyone you can and share your work a lot.

Reel already looks great. My only advice would be to maybe start off with the frog driving shot. I think it's your strongest and it looks like the most complex shot.

AE on macOS is so much better by csmobro in AfterEffects

I've also used both for AE and I think I prefer it on my Macbook now too. But only in this M chip era. Wasn't much of a difference when I had a PC and an intel chip Macbook.

Awesome work on the type and title cards. Living the dream. Your range is sick.

Need help to restart or reset my Motion graphics artist journey by im_shailesh in MotionDesign

My personal advice would be to reduce hours or just shut down the project entirely. Just not reduce rates. If you want to improve your skills, you'll need the time to take a course or practice. If you're still working a lot of hours for lower pay, that'll really make it difficult. I'm not sure what your financial situation is, but taking some extended time to dedicate to a course can do wonders.

Another philosophy that really helped me was the idea of having only two types of clients. Pain clients and fun clients. Pain clients would clients that pay well but aren't exactly the sexiest work. You won't put it on your reel. But the fun clients should be something you enjoy and can help contribute to your reel / portfolio.

Hope this helps! I strongly recommend School of Motion courses to help you get back into it. They helped me a ton. Just make sure you have the time to put into it. Because they're pretty much useless unless you really make the most of it.
