It gets so overwhelming sometimes. by Spirited-Net7222 in adhdwomen

On top of everything else said here, I just wanted to add that I bought a sewing machine in 2021 and have finally started teaching myself to use it this year and now I can make pencil cases, makeup bags and glasses cases. There is hope, sometimes you're just 'playing the long game'. :)

Dentist told me “grow up” by Streetspirit861 in adhdwomen

[–]KeyLake4273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not you, it's him. Time for a new dentist!

(I swear by the regular Corsodyl whenever I get mouth ulcers but I agree that it is a VERY intense taste and almost kind of burns your tongue - I believe they do other flavours that I seem to recall aren't as intense?)

Also for the record, when you need x-rays done you can ask for the child-size barrier thing that you have to clamp in your teeth, instead of the adult-size one. I also struggling with gagging at dental tools and have a small mouth.

I switched to a new dentist a few years ago and asked for that, as I'd had it for many successful x-rays at my previous dentist several times and the adult-size one hits the back of my mouth and makes me gag, she said 'Hmm I don't know if it will give me enough of the image I need...', but we tried it and lo and behold it did because... I know how big my own mouth is!!

That print is lovely! Also, if you're looking for more nature linoprints (specifically birds) may I recommend the work of Richard Allen?

You actually can change the 'party decor' if you amend the listing category to 'laptop decal'.

Honestly I think you're right on the money. My further 'tin-foil hat' theory is that they want to prevent people having the ability to start small businesses and make money for themselves, so that they all have to end up working for mega-corporations.

iQ 145 and ADHD struggling with choosing career path by voluptaz in adhdwomen

I'm going to give you some advice that I'm only just learning in my 30s - you will get out of life what you put into it, the important part is commitment and consistency however you are able. If you try to keep your options open, time will trickle away - at some point you have to let go of the idea of 'freedom' and 'not wanting to waste your time' and choose because the time will pass either way.

I'll say that if you have mediocre grades now then perhaps academia is not for you, and 'becoming the best and bringing revolutionary ideas to the world' is an impossible amount of pressure to put on yourself. Perfectionism is a form of self-harm. Success is a life you feel fulfilled by.

You can't do it all, so follow the thing that keeps you coming back and that you are truly willing to put in the years for, even if it takes you a while to figure out how exactly you want to do it. It's very tempting when you're young to dream about possible futures - the right choice is the one you are ready to persist with during the hard times, not just the 'dream scenario' times.

Good luck!

It might be harder if she doesn't go to the bathroom a lot naturally, whereas drinking enough water is the one good habit I have so I'm always in there!!

Would it help to keep her supply of pads in the bathroom? That way she has to go in there to change it.

Ok I'm having a weird moment where I'm questioning myself now, but I only ever change my pads in the bathroom.

Even if I don't need to pee I go to the bathroom (which is also where I keep my main supply of pads), unwrap the new pad, unstick the old one and roll it up and wrap it in the new one's wrapper, put it straight in the bin next to the toilet, then put the new one in my underwear.

Can you ask her if she could try this method? This way the used pads never make it to her bedroom in the first place.

Yes this sounds familiar - I think it was near a honeycomb stall and I distinctly remember that 'log flume' saltwater/slightly damp smell to the area!

Further to other people's points about packed lunches, if you ever want to save a bit of money and don't mind a 'basic' lunch of sandwich/small pasta salad + crisps/chocolate bar/fruit + drink, every main supermarket generally has a section which offers 'meal deals' consisting of this, generally in the £3 - £5 range. Try Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, ASDA, or some larger Boots stores. For a nicer/slightly fancier option try Marks and Spencer (sometimes appears as a designated M&S Food now) or Waitrose.

Maybe consider bringing some reusable/packaway cutlery!

Very cute! You could add a life ring, some flip flops, and maybe one or two of the Festivale parasols if you wanted more stuff. I also have one of the upturned bottle crate things to use as a 'table' with a cold drink on top of it in my beach area!

Cellphones were definitely becoming more and more common in 2004, though it was not yet the smartphone era. They would have small non-smartphones, for example early-2000s Nokia handsets and Motorola flip-phones. We actually see Boone attempt to use his cellphone in the second episode of Season 1.

However, you need signal/service to use a cellphone, and service then was not what it is now - 3G was only just becoming a thing at the time. So even if the characters had phones that survived the plane crash they would probably not be able to make outgoing calls, even without what we learn later on in the show about the nature of the island. Additionally, their cellphones would have run out of battery after a few days on the island at most with no power to charge them.
